From the second you slip into Harding's shoes, the game erupts with its high-octane action and innovative mechanics to keep you on the edge of your seat. The covert ops and overwhelming firefights in lush, micro-sandbox environments are nothing less than heart-pounding. The story, fully voiced and spread across 20+ levels, brings about a disturbing plot of survival and retribution that you just can't drop until you beat.

Relentless Action

One of the most recognizable features of the gameplay is its very fast pace. Similar to the likes of Superhot and ULTRAKILL, it demands very quick reflexes and strategic thinking, with players needing to adapt hand in hand with using the environment and enemy equipment to their advantage. The combat is visceral and every fight feels like a staggering dance of bullets and blood.

Another high point would be the comic book art style: vibrant visuals and dynamic animations bring the world to life, so that virtually every scene resembles a panel in a graphic novel.

This artistic direction makes the game look beautiful and, most importantly, enhances the feverish and aggressive gameplay for an even more unique and visually stunning experience.

Strategic Depth and Replayability

The micro-sandbox levels of I Am Your Beast refresh replayability itself in their own way. Each of the levels has been expertly designed to nurture exploration and experimentation. This provides an extra layer of strategic depth with optional side objectives to chase down and strive for the fastest completion times.

In that regard, I found the game very reminiscent of the latest Hitman entries. I Am Your Beast rewards experimentation and variety, essentially inviting the player to have fun with its ultra-violent mechanics.

Compared to most of the other fast-moving shooters available out there, I Am Your Beast has managed to strike that delicate balance between action and strategy. It incorporates elements focused on having you use environmental elements and enemy gear to your advantage in a very Superhot-like fashion. You'll soon find yourself feeling like a bona fide John Wick.

Immersive Sound and Innovative Storytelling

The soundtrack, done by RJ Lake, deserves special mention, as it does a great job at associating music with the intense action. The heart-slamming music goes perfectly with the action of the game and only enhances the immersiveness of it. Each track is carefully designed to make every situation feel dire and urgent and gets your adrenaline rushing at every moment for a cinematic showdown.

Another notable feature is the innovative "kinetic typography" cutscene system. This original form of storytelling, along with a fully voiced narrative, keeps the players interested and involved in the plot.
