Story

LEGO DC Super-Villains tells an all-original story, set in the same universe as the other LEGO Batman games like LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. After Commissioner Gordon captured your player-character, a super-powered villain called “the Rookie”, you escape imprisonment alongside Lex Luthor and a handful of other notable baddies. However, when the Justice League is banished by a new authority in town called the Justice Syndicate, you and your villainous friends suspect something's amiss. As you investigate further, you discover a huge conspiracy that could affect every corner of the gigantic DC universe.

Like other LEGO games, LEGO DC Super-Villains tells a subdued and family-friendly story of crime that's fun in concept and execution. It features tons of your favorite villains, including the Joker, Harley Quinn, Darkseid, and many more. It even includes plenty of rare and obscure characters you haven't heard of, rounding out the roster of over 200 characters. While the story missions are fun enough, the real fun of LEGO DC Super-Villains are the personal adventures you'll have as you mix and match characters and create your own chaos.

Gameplay

LEGO DC Super-Villains is a straightforward action game where you control your ideal villain as they help defeat heroes for the greater good. At the start of the game, you're able to customize the Rookie to have whatever kind of dark powers you want, including flight, mind-control, and much more. There are 15 story missions to complete with an additional 5 bonus levels, but these stages are designed to be replayed time and time again. As you make your way through the story and meet new characters, you'll unlock them in-game, letting you control them and use their special powers. New powers often let you access new areas or complete puzzles that you were unable to before, encouraging you to replay old levels and discover fresh secrets.

When you replay a level, you can either take the story route or pick your own squad of characters and enjoy the stage in Free Play mode. Here, you'll be able to find many more collectibles as you can use a variety of characters and their powers. You can also use these powers while exploring the large hub-worlds, which include memorable locations like Gotham City, Metropolis, and the Hall of Justice. There are dozens of side activities to complete, mini-missions to find, and collectibles to pick up, offering at least 20 hours of LEGO fun.
