I am always down for a new horror game and I do not know why it took me so long to play Manny's as this game is awesome. This is a horror game and I am going to try my very best to avoid spoilers as the lore in this game is some of the best I have experienced in a horror game in quite some time. I thought that I knew what this game was all about, but it ended up being so much more than that. One thing I will say is that you will play through this game once, but you have to play through it so you get a good ending as that to me is the real ending of this game.
Washed Up On An Island
The story of Manny's is the best thing that it has going. We play as a man who ends up washed up on a strange island. During the day, this is a typical survival on an island kind of situation that we find ourselves in. However, when the sun goes down and we think all is lost, a strange fast food joint owned by the mysterious Manny appears and we end up going inside and we end up working there.
The Seven Seals Of Hell
I do not want to go into too much detail about what exactly you can expect from the story in Manny's, but as a horror fan, this is spectacular stuff. What starts out as a fight for survival turns into something so much deeper. This is the kind of thing that sends shivers down your spine and while there is a lot of super creepy lore here. The story succeeds because it slaps you in the face with what kind of person we are playing as is. Plus, the stuff about who and what Manny actually is, is fantastic. The way the story was presented was great, it had me wanting to know all that I could about this strange world I have found myself in.
Working For The Man… I Think He Is A Man
The way that you play Manny's is quite interesting. During the day you need to survive on the island as you scavenge around and take part in this fishing mini-game. There are numerous fish to catch and this was something that I thought was fun. What I liked about this was that it kind of put you at ease and is kind of relaxing. However, when it gets to night and you have to start your shift at the fast food joint and a certain customer shows up, things get very strange. Trust me when I tell you, the less you know about the game the better. It only lasts a few hours and it is a very entertaining few hours. It leaves you wanting more, but at the same time, it gives you more than enough information so that you are not frustrated when the game comes to an end.
Dream Of Californication
They went for an interesting retro art style in Manny's and I kind of dig it. It reminds me of the Sega Dreamcast or the video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers song, Californication. It has a kind of inbetween original PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast thing. The horror imagery is very well done and you may be wondering how a game with an art style like this can be scary in 2024, but it works. Now, I will admit, I do wonder just how terrifying this game would have been if it were a higher production style of game with visuals like Resident Evil VII: Biohazard for example.
I had a fantastic time with this and the way you know I did is because once I finished Manny's, I went on a deep dark dive into the lore of the game and just read everything I could find about it. If you love horror and horror that is more psychological than just straight up blood, guts, and gore, this is a game I am certain is going to be something that you immensely enjoy!
Pros:
- This game has an amazing story
- There are different endings
- It leaves you wanting more
- This is a fantastic psychological horror game!
Cons:
- I dig the visuals, but some may not like the retro style
- It can be very easy to not get the proper ending

Game Reviews
Manny's is a psychological horror game that takes you on an unusual journey through a fast food restaurant. Brian is one of the few survivors of an airplane crash in the ocean. After many days of drifting, Brian found himself on a small island. There was nothing but a couple of trees on the island, starving Brian had already lost all hope, but at night an entire fast food restaurant appears out of thin air on the island. Driven by hunger Brian sets out to play a deadly game inside the establishment.
Game Pros:
- Hide from the fast food mascot by framing other players
- Steal food to regenerate your health
