Meowjiro

I have to start by saying that Meowjiro is the ultimate comfort game. This is so relaxing and so much fun that I ended up getting so hooked on this game. At the end of the day, this is a fun and charming game where you work in a store so you have money to treat your adorable cat. It is such a simple premise, but the game has so much charm and is so adorable that it is nearly impossible not to get caught up in it! I worked retail during my college days and I so wish that it was like this!

The Best Clerk I Can Be

With Meowjiro being what is referred to these days as a comfort game, you do not have a massive big story you are working through. The basics of what are going down here are that we play as a young guy who wants to live a good life, do well at work and ultimately, spend quality time with their cat (or cats) and spoil them rotten. Even if you are not a cat person, you are going to find that you are completely hooked on what this game is offering. I became obsessed with making sure my cats had all they needed!

Working 9 To 5

The place you are working at in Meowjiro is a Japanese convenience store and here you are tasked with keeping the store running and keeping the customers happy. This is done via a series of simple, but fun mini-games. For example, you will have to ring people up and make sure they have the right change and the correct groceries. You will have to clean the store and make sure things are where they are supposed to be. Nothing in the game is complicated and even when you do make a mistake, it never stresses you out and you can recover from it quite quickly.

What You Are Working For

As you work in Meowjiro, you will make money, you get more money by doing more demanding tasks at work. With the money you earn, you can furnish your little apartment, but more importantly than that, you can look after your cat! Get them their favorite food and all the things they need to live a comfy and happy life. The funny thing about this is that the game is kind of like real life where you are working to get the money to do the things you love, but the twist here is that work is actually fun. I loved sprucing up my homestead and of course, getting more cats to spoil. It is such a fun gameplay loop and one that I got well and truly hooked on.

What A Chonky Cat

The pixel art that Meowjiro has going on could not be any more charming! This is easily one of the most adorable pixel art games that I have ever played. The whole game just has an absolute ton of personality in every regard. I love the way we get these detailed customers and there is a ton of variety to them, the mummy looking monster girl being my personal favorite! The cats are just so adorable too, the way that they “grow” and get chonky as you spoil them was something that made me smile every single time.

Pros:

• This is one of the most relaxing games I have ever played
• How can you not love these pixel cats
• Doing your work at the store is actually fun
• This game will 100 percent relax you and put you in a good mood

Cons:

• It is insane to me that this is not on the Nintendo Switch
• I wish there was even more stuff to buy for your apartment and cats!

Meowjiro is a simulation of life with cats and life for cats. You got a job not so much for the sake of earning money, but for the sake of a cat, whose eternal need is food. Unfortunately for you, the cat only eats food, and it's not cheap. Work as a cashier during the day to give your furball his favorite food in the evening. A lot of mini-games make you a workaholic and oblige you to torn between cleaning, cooking and customer service. But what you won't do for the kitties, right?
