Nemesis: Distress

As of writing, Nemesis: Distress has no concrete released date, but I think this looks awesome so that is what we are talking about today. Based on a survival board game, this is a sci-fi horror game that is designed to be played with others and it has shooting, survival, and even a traitor aspect in it too. It is the kind of game that is sure to be a blast to play with your friends and I am sure it is going to be huge for the YouTube and Twitch gaming communities.

In Space…. You Can Die

The whole premise of Nemesis: Distress is pretty damn awesome. The game takes place on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere. You and your other crewmates awaken to find one of your friends ripped apart, the ship a complete mess and there is an alien species running amuck all over the place! I get some real Dead Space and Event Horizon kind of vibes from the setting of the game and that is a very good thing.

Complete Your Objective And Survive

Nemesis: Distress is a multiplayer game and games are going to last around 40 minutes. At the start of a game, you get to pick your character and each character has their own special ability that they can use. Each character also gets a mission that they need to complete. So as well as trying to survive the alien monster on board, you also have a job to do. This will differ from match to match, but destroying the alien nest and getting the ship to Mars are just two examples of the objectives the game has for you.

Trust No One!

There could be a traitor in the mix! You never know who to trust in Nemesis: Distress. Someone might get chosen to play the role of the traitor. Other times, no traitor will be selected. As you never know for sure if there is a traitor in the game, this keeps you on edge the whole time.

You cannot directly shoot each other as there is no friendly fire. However, you can still screw over the other players if you wish. For example, you can set a room on fire, you can attract an alien, you can even shut a door so they are trapped. So, while you cannot directly shoot them, those who are clever and devious can come up with some very fun ways to still make sure they do not survive.

Cold And Dark

I love how dark and moody the whole aesthetic of Nemesis: Distress is. The Alien movies (well the first two) and Dead Space are the easy comparisons here.

I love how the game just has this whole look of dread so that you will never truly feel safe. The whole game is designed to make you as nervous as possible and that is something I think they have nailed with the presentation of the game.

8

I think that Nemesis: Distress has the potential to be the biggest multiplayer released this year. It just looks like it is going to be so much fun and I am pretty sure people are going to be shocked at how much depth it has. I love the idea that each person has their own mission to complete and that there can be a traitor in the mix too. If you love multiplayer games then I highly recommend you put this one on your watch list!

Pros:

  • I love the setting and the whole premise of the story
  • There are different characters to play as
  • You will get one of many different missions each time you play
  • It is going to be a lot of fun to screw over your friends and watch them suffer!

Cons:

  • No word on a release date yet
  • So far, the game is PC only so console gamers will miss out
