Sports game fans know that the most difficult feat in development is a proper hockey sim. Up until now, EA was the only company to really get it right and then go so far as to almost perfect it. Formula is formula, though, and we need a breath of new life in this area. That's where Sony steps in.
NHL Face-Off has managed to do something that no other hockey game has been able to do: match NHL 96. As the first 32-bit hockey game worth its salt (you can forget Sega's NHL All-Star HockeyL), NHL Face-Off is a pure joy to play. Even in its early stages, it's clear that the player control and realism are there. As if that weren't enough, the graphics are phenomenal, and the sound will blow you away. Hop on this title the second it appears in your local store. (Oh, yeah, you need a PlayStation to get the full effect---so go buy one!)
