Flight 005 of Global Airways, enroute to Athens, Greece from Montreal, Canada, was commandeered by the forces of Abdul Bazarre. General and lifelong president of - ilthe Bintazi People's Republic. All passengers on that flight are now considered hostages of Bazarre and the Republic, and are being used in forced negotiations to get prisoners from the Republic in Germany and France released. This, of course, makes some people rather upset, hence Operation Thunderbolt: rescue the hostages.
I like the idea of being able to choose from a selection of different grunts. Nice touch.
It seems that the firefights are way too overdone. Sure, I can survive a couple direct missile hits. Not!
It's not a pretty sight when you've taken five or 10 too many grenade hits. Can you say, "GAME OVER"?

A military shoot-'em-up that picks up where Operation Wolf left off. You are equipped with a machine gun and some grenades to get you through your quest, but there is much in your way to hinder you.
Want some good Lethal Enforcers-style shooting? Operation Thunderbolt doesn't come with plastic guns, but it does have fast and frantic first-person action that'll cramp your thumbs.
As in Lethal Enforcers, you blast away at screens full of bad guys from a first-person perspective. During your rescue mission, you must nail all the oncoming terrorists, missiles, grenades, and knives without hitting innocent hostages. Fresh ammo and health icons fly across the screen, and explosions fill the sky when you connect with jets and helicopters. You'll work up a good sweat.
ProTip: Most enemies and power-ups cross the center of the screen.
If the game has a flaw, it's the sheer redundancy of the game play. How much carnage can you ensure? You'll find out, because all you do is blast wave after wave of onrushing terrorists. Sophisticated gamers may find the action repetitive.
Sound of Thunder
Your controls are sometimes your worst enemy because the targeting cursor moves slowly, occasionally leaving you open to enemy shots. Fortunately, the colorful, detailed backgrounds and large sprites make you keep trying. The sounds are also strong, as when you hear the clink of incoming knife blades.
This Operation is a success, generating plenty of shootin' thrills for intermediate soldiers. You'll get a charge out of this Thunderbolt.
- Save your powerful Rocket Bombs for incoming jets and helicopters. If you miss, aim for their missiles.
- If you can't nail quick-moving terrorists, shoot their grenades before they explode.
News Bulletin... Trans Global Flight #520 has been hijacked and passengers taken hostage. You're selected to lead a mission to rescue the hostages from a heavily armed and dangerous group of rebels. You are also heavily armed, but the gun-shooting, grenade-throwing foot soldiers are not easy targets. Shoot your way through enemy territory and seize extra ammo. Blast attacking jets and tanks as you travel through jungles to rebel headquarters. Rescue the hostages and escape back to the plane! This hot game is loaded with special game features, including two-player simultaneous play, a machine gun equipped with grenade launchers, amazing graphics and sounds.
