The programmers of this involved space game have embedded an egg that will let your character become invincible. Using two control pads and the power off, push D and R on the first controller and U and L on the second controller. While holding these down, power up and push the No. 1 button to start the game (you may need a friend to help you with all this button pushing).

To hear the different sounds used in the game, roll the directional controller counter-clockwise at the continue screen, which will bring up a sound-test screen. Moving the controller left or right will scroll through the sounds' index numbers. Hit the control-pad button to start the sound.

There is also a method of upping the number of continues you can have. When your game ends and the continue screen starts counting down, rotate the directional controller clockwise. You'll hear the sound of the counter increasing, and you'll receive up to 12 continues.

The perennial favorite of game players everywhere! The side-scrolling shoot-em-up has never looked as good as it does on the Turbo, with all levels intact and graphics that will have you looking for a coin slot. A four-meg masterpiece that blows all other home versions away!

People say:

All Gameboy owners should keep a eye out for this cart! Rarely does a Gameboy game capture my attention like this one does! Brilliant gameplay and graphics are featured in this hand-held shooter's dream. The control is responsive enough to make me feel I'm a part of the action!

There are few GameBoy games that I want to play but this is one of them! Unbelievable graphics for the GameBoy and likewise for the game play. It could be the best shooter for this format and even the sound was enjoyable. This is one cart that you should get!

Excellent! One of my favorite shooters is available on the go. While not as good as the Turbo Express the GameBoy does a great job of capturing the look and feel of this arcade classic. Terrific graphics, stereo sound, and great game play. I miss levels 4 and 5 from the original.

R-Type on the GameBoy! Impossible, you say? Hardly! This translation to a portable format left little missing. True, the game sounds and graphics aren't quite as nice (color would help), but for the GameBoy, it is a true masterpiece. All shooter fans will enjoy this cart.

The Earth Defense League is nearly helpless against this brutal onslaught of intergalactic terror, but there is a ray of hope left. Their weapons team has developed the ultimate in offensive laser weaponry code named: R-TYPE. A special prototype spacecraft dubbed the R-9 will be equipped with this extraordinary weapons system and piloted into the heart of the Bydo Empire. You are the one who must save the universe from this dreaded threat in this incredible arcade blast'em up.
