I thought that the Resident Evil 3 – Remake was great! Was it as good as the second one we got around a year earlier? I would have to say no, but to be fair I felt the same way when these two games were originally released for the PlayStation back in the 90s too! This is just an absolute blast to play and it takes a more action orientated approach to the gameplay which is something I think is interesting and also what sets it apart from 2.
Fighting Her Way Out Of The City
The story of Resident Evil 3 – Remake takes place at around the same time as the story of Resident Evil 2. This time we play as S.T.A.R.S member Jill Valentine from the original Resident Evil. The city is falling apart after the outbreak of the virus from Umbrella and Jill needs to fight her way out of the city all the while avoiding the monstrous Nemesis that is hunting down S.T.A.R.S members. I really enjoyed this story the first time around and it is even more cinematic here.
Shoot First, Think Second!
Ok, so that might be a bit far fetched, but the truth is, Resident Evil 3 – Remake is much more action focused than the last game. However, it still has much of what makes Resident Evil, Resident Evil if you know what I am saying. You still have to explore, find items, solve puzzles, and so on. Exploring the falling apart at the seems Racoon City is just so much fun and Jill controls very well and feels quite fluid in her movements. The thing with this remake and the remake of Resident Evil 2 is that
Repeating The Mistakes Of The Past
One of the things that people criticized the Resident Evil 3 – Remake for was a lack of content. To start with the game is far shorter than the Resident Evil 2 Remake and there are no multiple endings for you to play towards. However, these issues were also there back in the late 90s! This is a much smaller game than Resident Evil 2. I feel that they could have added a bit more content here. What is here is awesome, but I think even if they just added in a new game plus mode, it would have been great.
The Jill We Always Wanted
I touched on this before, but Resident Evil 3 – Remake is a very cinematic game. It looks breathtaking and it even got a next gen patch (for free!) that made the game look even better. The lighting and shadow effects are fantastic and the enemy designs are truly creepy stuff indeed. The way you can see the city falling apart and the clever use of camera angles makes you feel like you are in the middle of this hell. Plus, this is the “hot” Jill Valentine that we have always wanted to play as. However, Capcom has managed to make her be hot and also a total badass at the same time.
I thought that the Resident Evil 3 – Remake was awesome! At the end of the day, it is not as good as the Resident Evil 2 Remake, but you could easily say the same about the two games which were released in the late 90s too. This game is still 1000000 percent worth your time playing and even though it does not have a new game plus, I have actually played through this thrilling adventure three times!
Pros:
- I love how cinematic the game is
- Jill feels great to control
- It is a very exciting game, one of the more exciting games in the series!
- I liked how you could see the destruction of the city
Cons:
- This pretty much makes playing that original game pointless
- Just like the original release, it is lacking in content compared to 2
