As much as the game tries to appeal to a wider audience, there are still some obstacles for newcomers to overcome if they hope to enjoy this game to its fullest. Still, even if it takes some time to get used to some of Spiritle's mechanics, it's all worth it for a game as addictive as this.

Accessible Difficulties

The game plays exactly as you would expect a virtual board game to play. The board is divided into hexagons that might remind some of the more long-time fans of the genre of titles such as Catan or even Root, which is another video game with a very similar aesthetic to that of Spiritle.

That said, the developers have made it clear that one of their main goals for Spiritle is for the game to be as accessible as possible, meaning that players of almost any skill level should be able to pick up the game and understand its basic mechanics.

Forest Tactics

In order to carry out an attack, players will have to match identical tiles on their side of the board. This sounds much easier than it actually is, however, as it demands quite a bit of preparation and organization from the player to successfully create valid pairs in their decks.

At the same time, players will also have to determine when to play their tiles for maximum efficiency. Think about how Gwent was in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and you'll pretty much get the hang of how you should administer your tiles in Spiritle.

Gorgeous Landscapes

If there's something that Spiritle does amazingly right that would be the game's entire art direction. From the lush greens of the forest to the undeniably cute character designs, Spiritle has crafted a wonderful world of fantasy that invites players to discover the secrets in its lore and characters.

From a more technical standpoint, the UI serves the game right, even if, at times, it feels as if it could've been a bit more lively. The abundance of brown colors goes well with the whole forest theme, but there's a point when it almost becomes a monochromatic desert that doesn't do the game's art style any justice. Still, the menus are all easy to navigate, even for complete beginners, which is a blessing considering how many hours players will spend just learning the ropes.
