The Adventures of Looppy

If you enjoy indie puzzle platformers then The Adventures of Looppy could be the game for you. This is a charming and short little game that is way more challenging than it may appear. It is the perfect game if you are looking for something quick to get into, but is also going to test your platforming skills. Best of all, this is a game that has a very low price point so it is perfect for you to take a gamble on.

Saving Your Sister

As you would expect from a game of this style there is not a huge narrative for you to play through in The Adventures of Looppy. However, you do have an interesting premise.

You play as Looppy who is a unicorn and Looppy has to go on an adventure in order to save his sister who has been kidnapped. Sure, it is not going to win any awards, but it has a certain charm to it, and having a main character who is a unicorn is fun.

A Certain Classic Charm

There are 12 levels for you to play through in The Adventures of Looppy. It starts off very simple, so simple that you will think the game is just made for kids. However, the difficulty increases at a pretty good rate which gives the game a nice progression that keeps you invested and wanting to push on. You will have to do some platforming, activate switches, push items around, and also fight enemies. Combat is ok, you have this Taz style spin attack, but you cannot attack enemies when you are jumping which can be annoying.

Keeping You On Your Toes

As well as the platforming and enemies you have to face, The Adventures of Looppy also has secret areas for you to find as well. There are all kinds of pits, traps, and obstacles that get in your way. This is what takes the game from just being a platformer and turns it into a puzzle platformer. The game is fun, but it is one that is over fairly quickly.

Browser Gaming

The visuals and audio of the game have a charm to them and I would compare them to a browser Flash game and I do not mean that in a disrespectful way. Looppy is pretty charming and I find the way that Looppy moves to be pretty amusing, especially when you are ducking and moving along the floor. It has a decent soundtrack that has a bit more “rock” to it than I expected.

Pros:

• I do not know why, but I got a kick out of playing as a unicorn
• The visuals have a lot of whimsy about them which I like
• The way the challenge in the game progresses is great
• It is only going to cost you a couple of bucks at most!

Cons:

• The game is very short, you can probably beat it in one sitting
• While fun, this game is pretty basic
