War Hunter

It's always surprising to see just how many video games are centered around the war and soldiers' themes. Maybe it's because of all the action movies we watch and enjoy, as they tend to be centered around war and weapons and stuff like that. Anyway, when you think about war games, probably some big names jump to mind immediately, and surprisingly enough, the game we're talking about today isn't related to any of those. It's an indie game unrelated to any franchise. The name is War Hunter, a game developed by Falco Software and released in 2018. So, now that it's been a few years since its release, and chances are that you haven't heard about it, we're going to talk about it. So let's get started!

About the game

Similar to the more prominent names in the industry, War Hunter is also a first-person shooter action game. In this case, you take control of a soldier that is part of the special agents unit, and you're sent on a mission through the cold wilderness and the mean scenery of war to find the arms dealer known as Talib.

But why would they send an entire special unit of soldiers to find another arms dealer? Well, it's because Talib has in his hands the power to send the world straight to hell. He's stolen a nuclear device from the Russian government, and he's willing to sell it to the highest bidder, so the clock is ticking.

The media has also stirred the panic by going on to call this a possible imminent extermination of all humanity. So yes, there's plenty of reason to send the best of the best to catch this criminal before it is too late. Not only did the United States send the best unit they had, but also the Russian government sent the best agent of the FSB. In times like these, it's time to put the differences aside and work together to save the world.

A smaller war?

As you might have guessed, this is a very specialized mission, and it's not centered on huge war scenarios like Call of Duty WWII. Instead, it is divided into simpler, and smaller missions such as the raids you’d find in games like Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, in which you have a specific set of goals for each incursion and mission, and you’ll use your abilities to accomplish them.

War Hunter is a pretty solid FPS game, you have all the basics covered, with good gameplay and an intriguing story. However, the game is indeed a little short and has little replay value. It is a nice breath of fresh air compared to all the Battlefield games that have felt like re-releases of the same game for some years now.
