White Shadows is brought to us by German developers, Monkel and these dudes seem pretty damn awesome. This game as I write this article today has not been completed, but it is due for release really soon. This is one of the most stylish looking games I have seen this year and it is impossible for it not to capture your attention just based on the way that it looks alone.

Wolves Leading The Way

I am trying really hard to try and explain to you how I see the premise of White Shadows, but that is part of the appeal. This is a game that looks like it was made by someone like Tim Burton.

It has a very gothic kind of vibe to it and we play as this little raven girl. Oh yeah, the world this game is set in is ruled by wolves and rats and they hold the bird people responsible for a catastrophe that happened many years ago.

Calling Orson Wells!

I know I just said that White Shadows has a Tim Burton vibe going on, but the world they have created here also has a bit of Orson Wells about it too. This is just an absolutely stunning looking game, right now if I had to write a list of the best-looking video games of 2021, I would probably put this on here and it would be close to the top of the list.

The whole world has this black and white thing going on, it is almost fully steampunk, but not quite. Actually, there was a movie in the 90s called Dark City and that is what I think sums up this dark and oppressive world they have created here.

Getting Stuck In Limbo!

I think the parallels to the game Limbo (which is also awesome) are unavoidable with White Shadows and I do not mean that as a bad thing. This is an action platformer, but the developers are saying that we need to think of it as more of a trip than just another platformer. While there is a lot of platforming in the game, there is more on offer than just that.

You also have various puzzles that you are going to need to solve in each area too. I am not sure what the difficulty level of these puzzles are going to be, but the whole game looks like it always wants you to be moving forward.

As far as style goes, White Shadows is 100 percent one of the most stylish games to be released in 2021. I just love the whole vibe that they have gone for here and I do not doubt that for those that this game clicks with are sure to be super into it. I think if you like the work of people such as Tim Burton and movies like Dark City, this is a game I am sure you are going to greatly appreciate.
