The 90s were full of some terrible games, but they were also the source of some of our best loved ones too. If you’ve ever wished some of your favorite tycoons would come back modernized and ready for today’s world, you’re wish has been granted. Art of the Rail was inspired by your favorite tycoons of the past, but it has been updated for the present-day world.

This game works the same way as the tycoons as old. You will start out with virtually nothing and have to grow a network of rails and towns to build your empire.

Fully Moddable

One of the exciting features of this game is that it is fully moddable. You can change the game to suit yourself. The game comes with a detailed asset editor that allows you to customize the game to your own personal desires. This means a lot more flexibility to the game, so if you want to add something to make the game more realistic, it’s only a quick edit away.

Multi-player

Another awesome feature of this game is that you can play together with friends. A lot of friends as it happens. You can have up to 16 other people on your server helping you build and expand your world. The game also has the power to handle 16 players worth of trains zooming around the map without glitching or other errors. As a final benefit to multiplayer, there’s two options as far as people in your world. You can either allow them to help you build your empire or compete against them to see who will be dominant. This allows flexibility in gameplay options.

Detailed Finances

A tycoon isn’t really a tycoon unless there’s a financial component to it. Art of the Rail comes through in a big way here with a complex finance system that lets you get down and dirty with the financial aspect of the game.

The game allows you to make finances as simple or as complex as you like. You can look at the individual expenses vs profit of a single train, or just focus on the large scale profits you are taking in.

As you play, you’ll definitely be reminded of oldies like Railroad Tycoon, but with a fresh coat of paint on it.

Shareable maps

The game allows you an abundance of control over how the game operates. This isn’t limited to your own world. You can also share these maps with other people, create your own scenarios, and let other people enjoy what you’ve created

If old school tycoons were one of your favorite games of the past, this modern twist will be right up your alley. This game has all the great features of past tycoons, updated and ready for today’s world. Let’s face it, some of the best games came from the past, but they don’t need to have some of the drawbacks of those past games. This tycoon strips away all the issues of the past like slow speed and terrible glitches, and gives you a smooth and enjoyable experience.
