In this epic tale, you play a planet-hopping adventurer gifted with extraordinary powers. Azril has been tasked with saving Earth itself and will have to cross a number of dangerous hurdles to do so. Help Azril learn one of many exciting combat styles during her adventure so that she can help Earth survive another day.
Throughout the game, you can be entertained by the wise-cracking and humorous character as she struggles to become the Guardian of Balance. Azril is funny—but according to the story she has just lost everyone that she loves and holds dear. Her easy-going laughter seems a little false in the wake of her losses.

Mildly Interesting Story
Batora: Lost Haven is a story-rich game. To make it more interesting, the story diverges based on your choices. You can lean toward being a Destroyer of the universe, or a Savior. Each choice you make will have an impact on the overall story. The developers worked hard to make the choices gritty and realistic. Even when you try to make the right choice in a given situation, it’s not always enough to save the characters you love. The right choice isn’t always the ‘good’ choice. You’ll find yourself truly understand what it means to be the Guardian of Balance as you struggle to choose whether to conquer the universe or help repair it.
Graphics Can Be Beautiful
Sometimes the developers clearly wanted to showcase a planet or an exciting backdrop. These sections of graphics are absolutely stunning. The rest of the time the graphics are fine, but nothing to write home about. They’re not ugly but also not beautiful. This isn’t that unusual, and the game does a perfectly adequate job of showing the scenery and combat even when the graphics are not the best looking.
Dual Combat Style
There are two types of combat styles in this game, a mental mode and a physical mode. You will need to switch between the two and decide which one works best in a given situation. The combat style looks very similar to Darksiders Genesis, but without the four horses of the apocalypse.
The game is played in a top-down style, and there are also puzzles involving launching balls as well as a few other types to break things up a little bit. The game switches between combat, puzzles, and story in a way that breaks up the monotony of any one thing. The branching storyline also creates some replay value, as once you learn to balance between right and wrong, you may want to go back and choose differently the next time around.
Batora: Lost Haven has a lot to do and some interesting gameplay dynamics, but it isn’t really new or original. If you like this style of game it may still be worth your time, but don’t expect anything revolutionary as you make your way through the game.
Pros:
- Decent graphics
- Dual combat style for variety in gameplay
Cons:
- Unoriginal
