BLOCKADE

Let’s have some block-based fun in Blockade! Get yourself ready for a first-person shooter set in an editable, procedural cubic world. With a veritable cornucopia of weapons available, you can utilize your massive arsenal to mow down multiple teams of up to 32 players on a single map. Don’t panic, there is more than one type of game mode too, so you can treat yourself to hours of fun in this brazen but undoubtedly amusing title. Want to build a bunch of stuff and then blow even more stuff up? You’ve come to the right place. Let’s get into it.

Gameplay

Counter Strike: Global Offensive meets Minecraft? I know, that’s going to either sound really cool or really weird, depending on who’s reading this, but take my word, its pretty damn cool. The amount of gameplay in this title is absolutely stupendous. You run around this cube world, where everything is made of blocks, much like Minecraft, except you have guns and its up to you to shoot each other and win the game.

Oh, hey, what’s that? You got bored of the maps that were available? Do not worry, you can make maps yourself. Design them however you wish by placing blocks. Create crazy structures to suit the exact game type that you are after. I found there to be a near endless amount of gameplay in this alone. The best part about it is, no one knows the map better than you do, as you made it. Give yourself the upper hand and crush your enemies. If you aren’t up for making the map yourself, don’t worry, the map selection has community support, meaning you can download thousands of other maps that someone else made. Endless fun on tap.

Visuals

The visuals of this game are actually quite polished. You might not have expected it from a game that seems to run on cubes, but those cubes are perfectly clean and easy to see. There’s a lot of option available when creating your own maps, allowing you to make something unique, exactly the way you wanted it look. I did enjoy seeing how different some of the levels can be. Some look like they were pulled from a kids cartoon, with bright vibrant colors, others looking like they are from Alien: Isolation if it was made from blocks. The weapons could do with a bit more detail but I did find them easy enough to differentiate from each other.

Multiplayer

That’s right, kids. This game is multiplayer. Teams of four, with up to 32 players in a game, you will be running around gunning down cube faced people left and right. There is an appealing madness to how everything in this game runs, and the multiplayer builds on that fantastically. I found myself and my friends having a tremendous amount of fun playing BLOCKADE. IF you want something fun to play or stream, you could do a lot worse than this.
