If you’re both a film fanatic and a video game lover, you’re going to absolutely love Erica because it combines the two in an incredible way. This interactive film video game is thrilling right to the end and though the style of gameplay may be unfamiliar to many of you, it’s worth giving it a shot because I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
The story of Erica Mason
The game follows the story of Erica Mason, a young woman whose mind is constantly plagued by images of her past. Her father was murdered when she was a child, and in an attempt to discover the identity of her killer, she heads back to a place called Delphi House where her parents used to work. Will she figure out the truth, or will the killer get to her first? It’s up to you to find out.
Choose your own path
In Erica, the choices you make will influence your relationships with various characters and affect how the story unravels. If you want to be more aggressive and take things on with confidence, then go for it, but if you’d rather stay calmer and more collected throughout the game then you can do that too. Just be careful with the decisions you make as there are multiple endings to this game and you might get a bad one if you don’t play your cards right.
A movie-like experience
As mentioned earlier, this game amalgamates film and game into one and plays like an interactive visual novel. If you’ve ever played Detroit: Become Human, it’s very similar to that, but the difference being that Detroit uses 3D graphics while the scenes in Erica were actually filmed.
The result is a cinematic experience that’s so much more exciting and engaging than a normal film thanks to the interactive element. If you’re looking for something new and unique, then I’d highly recommend you download Erica and try it out for yourself.
An expertly crafted soundtrack
The filming and acting are great in this film, but to top it all off there’s an amazing soundtrack with music composed by Austin Wintory. The game’s musical score contributes terrifically to the tense atmosphere of the game and it’s so good that it was even nominated for various awards! If that hasn’t convinced you to try out the game for yourself then I don’t know what will.
Erica is incredibly well-crafted and combines all the best elements from thriller films and games. If you enjoy visual novels and are looking for something with a bit more realism to it then be sure to check out Erica. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised with this game and the thrilling experience it offers.
