Forza Motorsport 7
As I write this, Forza Motorsport 7 is the most current game in the Motorsport series. It is probably the last game in the series that is going to be released for the Xbox One The game is a great way to bring the series to a close on this current generation of hardware and while it is not reinventing the wheel, it is a great racing sim experience.
How Many Cars???
It’s the car, chicks dig the car. Well not just chicks, but guys to as Forza Motorsport 7 has a very impressive fleet of cars. Some people will complain that due to a licensing issue there are no cars from Lexus or Toyota. However, there are still over 700 (yes, I said 700!) cars for you to race. Pretty much any kind of car you can imagine is here and the progression at which you unlock new cars is really cool and keeps you going.
It has been said to death that the Forza series is known for its visuals and this one is no different. This one was made with the Xbox One X in mind and that 4K resolution is just breathtaking. As cheesy as it sounds, I legit do not know how they can make cars look any more real than they do here! Another way that the visuals have been improved here is not just with the cars and levels, but the dynamic weather effects. To be fair they have just taken these from the Horizon series, but they work great here and they do give Forza Horizon 5 a ton more personality and more diversity as you race as well.
One of the criticisms that were thrown the way of this game was the grind in which you earn currency as you play. I do not think this is as bad as people make out and found that racing through the main single-player mode, getting championships, unlocking new cars, customization options and so on was not a chore. It was something I actually really liked. However, I am a massive fan of the series so maybe I was able to be willing to overlook this more than some other people may be willing to do so.
If you have played a Forza Motorsport game before, you should know what the deal is with the gameplay by this point. It is just as good as it was in the 6th installment and I really do not think there is a better racing sim series out there than this one. The controls are pretty much perfect and if you fail, 99/100 it is because of something you did.
There are a ton of tracks here and many of the new ones are really tricky and will take a few drives on to get the feel for them. This is something I really like about the game. It is the kind of game that demands you be good at it (well as long as you do not tinker with the options) and the reward for doing so is just awesome.
I think that Forza Motorsport 7 is a great way to bring the series to a close on this current generation of consoles. I would say that I do ever so slightly prefer 6 as the career mode was more my kind of thing. Do not let that put you off though as this is still a really cool and fun racing game.
