Green Day: Rock Band

Rock Band: Green Day is a classic guitar rhythm game in which you can play many songs by the band Green Day as well as others like Dookie and 21st Century Breakdown.

The Gameplay

This game plays almost exactly the same as Guitar Hero titles and other Rock Band titles. In this game you play notes by holding certain frets while strumming the strum bar. You have to time these notes with the notes coming on the screen. It may be possible to play with instruments other than guitar/bass, however I did not personally. This game is very fun to play, especially if you are a fan of the music in the game and if you have friends to play with. I personally enjoy the fact that you can change the difficulty of the songs so that you can play with your most experienced friends as well as newbies! This game rocks! It plays just like other guitar games and that makes it great at what it does!

The Story and the Art

I thought it was really weird how they colored Brad’s hair brown in the first half of the story as if they didn’t know he has always dyed it black. They didn’t make mistakes like this throughout the game, it’s just that this one stood out to me because it looks really weird.

The game also looks incredible. The golden flowing patterns along the fret boards paired with the band playing in the background is a sight to be seen. You will not believe how much it makes you feel like you’re really in the band! Keep playing notes to increase your point multipliers! This will help you achieve true Slash status and defeat the enemy!

Ratings

This game has pretty good art, and the depictions of the band seem to be spot on except the one mentioned above. These games normally look pretty good, but this one took me by surprise.

Pros:

• The songs are great
• The game looks good
• It’s easy to play with friends using difficulty swaps

Cons:

• It is just a timing game and it may eventually bore you
• Green Day isn’t everybody’s favorite band
• Not a varied enough list of songs from other bands
