Published and developed by Mindscape, Inc., this video game was released in 1990.

It is a Nintendo Entertainment System game based on the post-apocalyptic same name movie. The main goal is to survive life after the world comes to an end.

The player controls a Mad Max, an interceptor, driving him through the post-apocalyptic wastelands and fight bandits. You will also need to collect valuable food, water, gasoline, and money to go on with racing into the desert wasteland. Also you start out the game as what appears to be a futuristic armored vehicle.

In the game there are hidden parts that fix to your vehicle and form a type of robot. The game is played in a top-down view, where you move your vehicle to attack enemy cars and get fuel tanks. If you happen to run out of fuel, the game is over.

Game Reviews

Loosely based on all three of the action-packed Mel Gibson movies, Mindscape's upcoming Mad Max game will highlight a driving quest that pits you against opposing forces as you search for Thunderdome. Along the way you must maintain a constant eye on your fuel gauge and eliminate any enemy vehicles with explosives. If you need a quick escape, punch your Nitro and leave the bad guys in the dust! An overhead perspective is used throughout.
