Minicraft

Now here is a fun game! MINIcraft is actually the brainchild of the gentleman who created Minecraft, Markus Persson. He put this game together in a mere 48 hours as part of a competition and that is something that is just crazy when you think about it. MINIcraft has built up a bit of a cult following with fans making sequels and expanding on the original.

It Is Dangerous To Go Alone

It is impossible not to think of The Legend of Zelda when you first look at MINIcraft and surely that (and Minecraft of course) were the big inspirations for MINIcraft. If you go into this game with a kind of Legend of Zelda mindset you are in for a truly wonderful time. Well, a short time as this is a rather quick kind of game, but hey the dude put it together in just a few days!

Is This Not Just 2D Minecraft?

When I tell you that in this game you have to cut down trees, mine rocks, kill zombies and craft items. You could be forgiven for thinking that this is nothing more than a 2D version of Minecraft. That though is not the case, it really does have that old school top down action RPG feeling to it and that is awesome. You will need to go and find these certain items that you can then use to build another set of items. Once you have done this you can start your journey to the end game. You see in this world there is only one other sentient being, the Air Wizard. You cannot have this as you want to live in this world alone so once you have your special items you can head out to kill him. That is a nutshell is the point of the game., it does not take too long to finish and I promise you will have a smile on your face the whole time you are playing. MINIcraft is designed to be played in your browser so you just use your keyboard to control it has the standard WASD kind of controls and controlling the game is very easy.

MINIcraft Plus!

While the version of MINIcraft that I first of all played was just the bog standard MINIcraft (and I had a great time doing so) once you kill the Air Wizard it is the end of the game, you will get your score and your time, but that is that. If you play MINIcraft Plus though you can take on an extra dungeon once you have defeated the Air Wizard. I would recommend that you play the standard version and then play MINIcraft Plus as it is great to see where this game originally came from.

I think that MINIcraft is a really fun and clever game. It is a blast to play and you will more than likely play through it more than once as it is quite addictive. MINIcraft Plus and the follow up games that have been created because of this all expand on it and I think they are all worth having a look at. If you are looking for a browser-based game that has a lot of heart and is a lot of fun to play, check out MINIcraft.
