As far as platformers go, this one fits the bill for the genre but definitely brings its own style and charm. Join a cast of hilarious friends and foes as Lucky travels this strange new world and see’s some truly interesting sights. If you’re ready, a colorful world of puzzles and obstacle courses await.

Gameplay

So, for the most part, this game is comprised of platforming puzzles and obstacle courses, as described. There is a lot to it, I will be honest. Some of the game is side on 2.5D, some of it is full 3D, yet the game manages to blend between the two perfectly. There’s a great balance of gameplay here, and you find yourself excited to see where the game is going to go next. Run, jump and burrow your way through this gauntlet of trials that will turn our unlikely hero into a courageous protagonist for the ages.

If I had to equate the gameplay to anything, it would be a bizarre blend of Sonic Boom, Super Mario Odyssey and Spyro. This game has a little bit of everything: lasers, explosions, puzzles, boss fights and everything in between. This is truly a game that those of various ages and skill levels can all enjoy equally.

Story and Humor

There is a brilliant amount of humor in this title. You play as Lucky, a fox who has to traverse the world and put a stop to the evil sorcerer cat known as Jinx. His children, a gang known as the Kitty Litter, are out to try and stop you but you needn’t worry too much because they are all as dumb as a bag of hammers. Throughout the game and story, you’ll find a lot of brevity and it makes the game quite engaging to be honest. I found myself chuckling a few times.

Art Style

The art style is colorful and tidy. Everything from the characters to the world itself looks absolutely stunning. The colors are vibrant well suited to the environments, everything is clear to see and well defined so you don’t have to question what you’re looking at. However, that does also mean its difficult to blame the game whenever you don’t see something. I found the architecture of a lot of the environments to be unique yet fitting for what was being conveyed.

Conclusion

There is something definitely something about this game that lets you switch the higher functions of your brain off and just enjoy. It doesn’t ask too much of you and lets you sink into a fun and colorful adventure. I think a lot of that is owed to the art style.
