Pokemon Blazed Glazed
Today I am checking out Pokémon Blazed Glazed which is a very interesting game to talk about. You may have heard already about Pokémon Glazed which is a hack of the Diamond and Pearl games. Well, what we have here in Blazed Glazed is a hack of a game that is already a hack! I thought that Glazed was a lot of fun, but this one is trying to take it to the next level.
Find Them All, Save The World
I really enjoy the story that is on offer here. Some of the other Pokémon hacks that I have played over the years tend to get really weird with their stories and characters. Instead of going that route, Pokémon Blazed Glazed takes a more “traditional” kind of route with its story. You are a young Pokémon trainer trying to make your way in the world and end up caught in a story bigger than you could imagine. The main villain (no spoilers here) is great stuff and easily the kind of character you could see being in one of the Pokémon TV series.
One thing I have to give this hack a ton of credit for is the end game content. Rather than just trying to capture more Pokémon. Once you beat the main story, the game has more for you and it actually has a narrative to it which keeps you motivated to keep on playing.
Now This Is Fair
If you check out my review of Pokémon Glazed, I mentioned how I loved that game, but the start of it was way too hard. Well, this has been addressed here in Pokémon Blazed Glazed and it is not just the start of the game that has had some work done on it. The whole game has been rebalanced it feels like and overall, it makes for a much more enjoyable Pokémon experience.
As well as the difficulty being changed other things have too. Different Pokémon have been added to the game with many from generation 5 and 6 making an appearance. The gym layouts have sometimes been changed and in all, it feels like more than enough has been changed to make this a worthwhile playthrough even if you have played all the way through Glazed.
I already enjoyed what the Glazed hack offered, even with the extra hard opening few hours. For me though, I have to say that overall, Pokémon Blazed Glazed is just a much better experience. It takes what was already a great hack and makes it even better. It is actually one of my all-time favorite Pokémon hacks and it is one that I highly recommend to any Pokémon fan. It is a very, very long game, but it is so well done that I feel most people will like how long the game is.
- A great selection of starter Pokémon
- The difficulty has been smoothed out
- I enjoyed all of the gyms in the game
- Each region feels unique
- I really did enjoy the story
- The game may still be a tad long for some
- I wish it added in more mini-games
