Putt Putt Saves The Zoo

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo is a classic game for the PC, that has now migrated over to the Switch and PS4. It’s a point-and-click game aimed at young children, and has enough puzzles and games to delight young children and keep them entertained for hours. In this game, children must help Putt-Putt find lost baby animals and return them to their homes. While it is not listed as an educational game, it has puzzles in it that help build critical thinking skills.

So-So Graphics

This is a port from PC from years ago. The original graphics are being used. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing since the graphics are a fond memory for many children, but they aren’t beautiful to look at. It’s also interesting to note that even though they have access to better sound quality, they chose once again to use the original.

Generous Amount of Gameplay

This is a kid’s game, but it has a surprisingly large amount to do. When Putt-Putt drops off food for the zookeeper he finds out there are lots of things that need fixed around the zoo. He also learns there are 6 baby animals that are missing.

Not only can you help the zookeeper find the missing animals and fix things around the zoo, there are lots of animations available on each page. You can take your time clicking your way through each scene to learn about new characters. If you ever played Freddi Fish’s One-Stop Fun Shop, it has the same amount of gameplay, and also features Putt-Putt along with some of his other friends.

Aimed at kids 3-8

Unless you are taking a trip down memory lane and want to reexperience this as an adult, it’s important to remember this game is aimed at young children. The puzzles are very simple. The 6 missing animals aren’t really hidden at all, and in fact are in plain sight.

The only tricky part to the game at all seems to be giving the snake hot cocoa to warm it up. The rest of the game involves turning a knob to open up a dam, feeding a mouse cheese snacks to get it to leave an elephant alone, and simply finding lost animals.

If you’re an adult, these puzzles won’t challenge you at all. They are aimed at helping kids solve puzzles without overwhelming them with puzzles that are too difficult.

This is a fun little game for kids, and a source of great memories for adults. The simple puzzles will help children think logically, and adults will enjoy helping their kids as they review their childhood favorite. This game is a great port for newer gaming systems and has been a favorite for a very long time.
