There’s nothing better than a video game that doesn’t push you towards the brink of completely giving up right at the start. With Ranch Simulator, you’ll be placed in an environment that respects your personal pacing as a player. Today, there always seems to be some new Simulator game coming up. With Ranch Simulator, this isn’t just a tag slapped on as an excuse to make a lazy video game. Instead, it’s a good descriptor for what you get.
In this title, your experience revolves around your character inheriting their grandfather’s ranch as he lives you a note signing it off to you. This is pretty similar to how Stardew Valley starts, so it’s interesting to see how this title handles that similarity right off the bat.
Gameplay
Ranch Simulator pretty much tosses you into the mix of things after a short initial tutorial. Here, you’ll be free to do as you please, and that’s where the game opens up and makes for an interesting experience. To open things up even more, you can engage in the madness of four player co-op multiplayer with your friends. Located in a remote forested valley, you can all work towards upgrading the dilapidated homestead to test all your abilities. Rebuilding the ranch is no easy task, so it will take some patience and money making skills to make it become a respected establishment. You’ll need to buy tools from your local hardware store to begin working on things by yourself. Additionally, purchasing a range of vehicles from the garage could go a long way to help you out with speeding things up. The game also allows you to decide what livestock you’d prefer to farm and construct barns for. Selling your wares is a great way to make some money to keep the lights on. You can sell stuff like eggs and milk. However, hunting is where the most money is at.
Open World elements
While taking care of your farm and tending to livestock is important, Ranch Simulator will only ever be more rewarding when you’re willing to take on the large open world environment outside the cozy homestead. The world of Ranch Simulator is one that is teeming with wildlife and loads of things to see. So, if you ever find your life stagnant in the ranch, grab your trusty rifle and head out into the forest to hunt bears and stalk deer. As a rancher, don’t be too scared, but also don’t disrespect the lawless wilderness. The open world elements of this game are pretty reminiscent of some things found in Minecraft.
Verdict
Ranch Simulator is best enjoyed with friends due to the fact that a lot of the activities get repetitive after a while. Having friends around helps you to actively create storylines and have fun.
There’s no doubt that the game is a good one though. If you’re the type of player that enjoys regimented tasks, this might be the complete package to you.
