Ring of Fire

Solving problems has always been a big part of video gaming, and upcoming detective inspired title Ring of Fire looks to build on this classic video game concept. Set to release later in 2022, Far Few Giants has published an extremely exciting and unique looking game. It’s a classic search-based detective game, using a stylish noir theme to help envelope everything in a mysterious and exciting atmosphere.

If you are someone who has a lot of fun solving crimes, then you should definitely add Ring of Fire to your wishlist for games that are coming out in 2022.

Engaging noir narrative in an intriguing setting

The noir detective game has been done on many occasions, and many of these titles tend to feel like shallow imitations of a 1950s movie. However, many of these games do tend to pull off the style and the mystique of noir fiction with relative ease. Through a very interesting and welcoming art style and layout, Ring of Fire looks to capture the aesthetic with complete simplicity.

The art style immediately stands out, and it should provide you with a very interesting game to play through if you find art direction to be important to enjoyment. The game might remind some of other titles like The Wolf Among Us in terms of its artistic style, but Ring of Fire looks to very much stand on its own two feet when it comes to the gameplay that you get to enjoy.

There is much to like about this game, not least the fact that there is already a demo out. We have tried the demo, and immediately found the plot and pacing very impressive indeed. We recommend that you try it out for yourself.

An intriguing detective game with its own ideas (8/10)

From what we have played so far, we have to say that we are more than impressed with Ring of Fire. The title looks to bring a vibrancy and life to the noir detective genre that can feel a little hard to match. The dialogue was excellent, the writing felt authentic, and the general plot and idea felt like something that we could go along with. Nothing felt forced, and the ease of which one can search and find information made it easy to get involved.

Though by no means an easy title, we liked that Ring of Fire helped to avoid the ‘pixel hunting’ of other search based games. It feels easy to find the clues and the information if you are in the right frame of mind. Unlike other titles of this style, Ring of Fire does not hide behind faux complexity – it provides you with all the information you need; you simply need to use your logic to solve the issues at hand.

• Need to play the full game upon release to see how repetitive it could become
