Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment

You would not believe the number of hours that I have sunk into Sword Art Online Infinity Moment! This PSP game is like an MMORPG, but without the online part! I know that sounds super strange and I am sure that some may be expecting this to be some kind of stripped down and basic experience, but that could not be further from the truth! What we have here is one of my top 20 (maybe even close to the top 10) PSP games!

What About The Story?

Look I am a huge fan of the Sword Art Online series so I am perhaps a little bit biased here, but the story does follow the events of the anime very well. It takes place just after the first arc and features characters who are stuck in this virtual world and need to survive and figure out what is going on. Look, I love Sword Art Online Infinity Moment, but I will admit that unless you can get a fan translation or are familiar with the story you may be a bit lost here so please keep that in mind.

If you like the anime, you will love the presentation of the game. What we have here is a very slick and stylish looking game. It has a ton of fan service here and even if you are not familiar with the anime, you will probably still appreciate the art style of this game.

MMORPG Without The O!

The gameplay is super addictive and a huge reason as to why I imported this and spent so much time with it when it was released. You do many of the things that you would do in an MMORPG. You will be going on tons of quests. Some are main quests that are essential to the story and side quests that are not essential, but you want to do in order to get cool stuff and level up your characters.

The gameplay is fun and the combat moves at a very brisk pace which is something that I did enjoy. I liked how you can get a ton of new weapons, but it is upgrading your weapons that is really addictive. You can actually have 10 types of weapons equipped at a time and this lets you do many varied attacks which I think is part of why I really enjoy the combat.

As much as I love the gameplay experience that Sword Art Online Infinity Moment offers, I must admit this is not a game for everyone. You can get through it without knowing Japanese (and I think there may be a fan translation out there) however if you are familiar with the anime, I do not think you will feel lost at all. The actual gameplay is fun too so that is great and in all this is a great game for the PSP.

Pros:

• Captures the feel of Sword Art Online very well
• The weapons in the game are awesome and fun
• The gameplay is quite fast-paced
• Has many of the best elements of MMORPGs
• The story if you can follow it is great

Cons:

• You do need an appreciate for Sword Art Online to really appreciate it
• No official English translation
