Exploring unknown lands, searching for treasure, and going on adventures all over the world has been one of the favorite subjects of entertainment. From novels like Around the World in 80 Days to movies like Indiana Jones, it's always been popular. Video games like Tomb Raider have Lara Croft getting into all kinds of adventures, even with mystical themes involved. But today we'll talk about Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception, the last title of the series released for the PS3. After all, Nathan Drake has become pretty much the Indiana Jones of gaming.
As big as Indiana Jones?
Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception is, obviously, the third entry in the uncharted series, and if one thing's for certain here is that they just keep going bigger and better. The Uncharted formula has remained pretty much the same since the first release, but it's just as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
They added new melee combat mechanics, improved the stealth elements, and even more action and puzzles than ever before. All of this while keeping the basics intact.
It is more important than ever before to pay attention to the environment around you to solve some puzzles. While the game is still pretty linear, the exploration in every map is incredible and very detailed. The world feels so alive that you'll really enjoy it. checking every small detail in the environment to make sure you're not missing any clue. But even with this it still keeps the same platformer style just as the previous games in the series.
The adventure never stops
Drake's Deception does an incredible job when it comes to the script, as it really just feels like an excellent movie. The adventure is bigger and even more personal than before, and it continues to develop the characters further on. Not only do we get to see what keeps going on with Nate and Sully, but there are a ton of other characters too. And we even get a glimpse of the past and we can see how it all started.
Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception is an incredible game in every way possible, not only is it technically excellent, but the script is also a wonder. The characters share amazing chemistry all along the way, and it feels really natural and fluid. The gameplay has been improved a lot, and it makes the fighting moments equally as good as the exploration.
The animations look incredible and it even has an amazing sense of cinematography. Drake's Deception really is a masterpiece in many ways, it looks incredible, it plays amazingly, and the art and general world building are on another level. The first two titles really did set the bar high for the next game, and somehow this third entry managed to take it to the next level.
This game has some of the most natural movements and art direction we've seen in a PlayStation 3 game. But not everything's positive here, as there are some elements regarding the gameplay that could very well be improved. Even though the shooting action scenes are great and full of action, they tend to be a little bit too intense. It's not that it is entirely a negative thing, but it does break the atmosphere of adventure film when waves and waves of enemies come shooting straight at you.
Shooting up so many enemies gets to be a little too much for the style of the game, but even with that, the gameplay here is great too. Not to mention that it helps in making the online multiplayer a great experience too.
