Vampyr

Vampyr is an action RPG, where players control a doctor called Jonathan E. Reid, a man who after being turned into a vampire, must now go out and kill innocent people to quench his thirst for blood. But to maintain his cover as a doctor, Jonathan must act carefully, so that people don’t find out about what he truly is. A monster.

Let Me In

During your hunts, you will need to act wisely. As there are vampire hunters out there, so you must do your best to avoid unnecessary attention. As a vampire, you are not allowed to walk out in the sun, and you cannot walk into someone’s house without being invited first. However, it is up to you to choose if you want to kill innocent civilians or not. By choosing not to kill anyone, you will be able to maintain your cover as a doctor, but you won’t be able to strengthen yourself and gain new skills.

By killing and feeding on humans, you will earn experience points, that can be used to get new abilities on a skill tree. Some abilities can be activated during combat to give you an upper hand, but there are also passive abilities, that can boost your attack, defense, and health. If you choose to engage in combat, some skills need blood to be used, so you must be careful when using these types of skills, they will deal a lot of damage, but will also leave you weakened.

Vampire hunters are not the only threat, as you must also fend off against other types of vampires. Some of them hide in the sewers, while others go out to hunt their own kind. To help you fight them, you can also use a revolver, and improvised melee weapons.

Doctor Of Death

The game has four different endings, and which one you get depends on the choices you make during your playthrough. So be sure to make your decisions wisely. Will you embrace the monster that you are, and kill everyone in your path, to become more and more powerful, or will you try and hold on to what’s left of your humanity, and avoid killing innocent people. The choice is yours. Of course, you won’t always be able to avoid conflict, and at certain times you will need to fight in order to survive.

You will travel across London for answers about your origin, and also to put an end to a vampire epidemic that is happening all across London. Will you be able to protect London, or will you become an insatiable monster?

Summary

Vampyr hit right on many aspects, as the game scenery creates this sense of dread, and the plot and characters developments are incredible.
