Born Punk is a brand-new, top-of-the-line, point-and-click adventure that follows a group of heroes in a not terribly heroic cyberpunk setting. This is an astounding game that offers an incredible experience for point-and-click newbies and veterans alike. With an awesome story, fantastic and comedic writing, brilliant visuals, and loveable characters, this game is the natural evolution of this gaming genre. I hope you’re ready to become obsessed with this title, because I know I am. Come on, let’s quit messing around and get into it.

Gameplay

This game is, for all intents and purposes, a pretty straightforward point-and-click game. You take control of the three heroes and you must travel the city and discover who hacked you. There is an incredible world at your fingertips for you to explore. Look around, interact with stuff, pick things up that may be useful at a later time. There is a clear The Curse of Monkey Island feel to this game but that is a result of the genre. That said, this title brings something clearly unique and “next-generation” to the conversation.

This game is very much up to you, in regards to where you go and how you tackle the main story. This kind of freedom is relatively unprecedented in games like this, so make sure that you are appropriately excited and intrigued by that. This is a side-scrolling adventure puzzle game and it does not shy away from that at any point.

Visuals

Yo, this game is absolutely wild. It looks incredible in every single scene with how much is moving and happening on screen. This isn’t like the old point-and-click games, this is some new level stuff where it feels like you’re looking at a living, breathing, pixel world.

I absolutely adore the pixel art; it gives a very strong Backbone feel. You’d expect this type of animation style to limit the visuals but they don’t. Instead, they add something unique. The way the world is designed, the way the colors work together and the people within it. It all matches the genre and theme in a way that few games manage to capture. This is Cyberpunk 2077 if it wasn’t a disappointment.

Story

Set in the futuristic metropolis that occupies an island in the Baltic Sea, the year is 2155 and technology has a grip on humanity like never before. You take control of three characters; Eevi, a corporate hacker turned bartender; Mariposa, the CEO of Bornholms biggest corporation; and Grandmaster Flashdrive, a malfunctioning android.

Conclusion

The story? All three of you are possessed by unknown entities and you need to figure out what the heck happened and who the heck has the audacity to hack you. There is some great writing, some brilliant humor, and a tense story to tie it all together. What more could you ask for?

An absolutely astounding triumph for the point-and-click genre. If you are looking for something that takes the classics and improves on them in a million different ways, this is without a doubt for you.
