If you’re not left satisfied by the cleaning aspect of games such as Powerwash Simulator, you’re best off skipping this game. Car Detailing Simulator is all about getting that classic car from muddy and unloved to glossy and sleek once again.

If you’re doing it for the cars, this is a great game to go with. None of the cars are actually named after the different cars due to licensing issues with the companies, but it’s obvious which vehicle is which. The “Korvet Styngrai” for example looks exactly like a Corvette Stingray, and while the logos may be altered to avoid copying the brand, it’s clear what they are.

Incredible backdrop

Your shop is extremely detailed, with a lot to look at and enjoy. There’s car art on the walls, a gorgeous car chair in one corner, and all the items you need to improve the appearance of your car in your shop. It looks like a real location for cleaning and detailing, and a comfortable home for those who are passionate about detailing.

Tedious repetition

While working on gorgeous cars and watching them come to life is appealing, the three stage process the detailing comes in can get really tedious. The game doesn’t allow you to progress unless you’ve covered every detail of the car, and sometimes the part you missed is tiny. A highlight feature helps a little bit to find the part you missed, but it can still take you much longer than necessary to find the bit you missed.

UI may be difficult to use

The UI isn’t always intuitive, but has a lot of options once you get used to it. As an example you can take tools off the shelves, but it doesn’t show you what you’ve taken. You have to either know from doing it in the past, or scroll through a bunch of mouse options to get what you’re looking for. The game does have some unique features that add to the realism however, such as the ability to stand on tiptoe to get the top of a vehicle. The UI isn’t always the best, but if you can get used to it, it does add an interesting component to the game.

Cool photography option

One of the highlights of the game is that it allows you to take a photo of your hard work after you’ve finished. This may sound boring at first, but the options for photography actually make it an extremely fun aspect of the game. It’s well worth taking the time to get a great shot of your handiwork after working hard to get it all clean.
