Today we are checking out Crysis Remastered which is a game that feels like it should have been released forever ago! While the Nintendo Switch version was very well done, many of us were waiting to see what the PC and other consoles were going to do. When this was first released well over a decade ago it was an absolute monster in terms of the visuals, a real landmark game and they are trying to capture people’s attention once again with this remaster and its visuals.
I always thought that the story here was great and Crysis Remastered is telling the exact same story that the original game did. It is a sci-fi story where we play as Nomad who is part of the Raptor Team unit. The setting for the game is an island called Lingshang Island off North Korea, you have been sent there to rescue some American archeologists.
The reason that they were there is because there are alien artifacts on that island! As the game progresses, things take a turn and you go from trying to save people from terrorists to fighting aliens! It is cool stuff, but if you played the original game, you will know exactly what to expect here.
It’s The Suit. Chicks Dig The Suit
While people may come to Crysis Remastered to check out the visuals, the Nanosuit is what I guess you would call the gameplay gimmick. This thing is awesome and gives you access to many abilities. For example, you can use its camouflage setting to use stealth, sneak around and take down enemies that way. On the flip side of this, you can crank up the power and turn it into a walking tank!
Grab Your Guns
The general first-person shooter gameplay in Crysis Remastered is done very well. This is a game that people loved for its visuals, but truth be told it is a damn fine first-person shooter in its own right. They say that this is a sandbox game, but I would say it is not 100 percent a sandbox game. Granted you can tackle things the way that you want, but the game I feel still has a clear path for you to go on. The enemy AI is fantastic, especially when you consider how old this game is. They can go from being smart and trying to flush you out to being scared and acting all erratic.
What You Want To Know
As this series is known for its graphics, do you want to know how Crysis Remastered holds up in this regard? Well, this is fantastic, with 4K visuals, ray tracing, and just so much polish that it looks almost like a brand-new game.
Depending on your rig, there may be a few framerate issues, but this is the best that this game has ever looked. The lighting effects were what really blew me away!
If you liked the original then you are going to like this! The visuals have seen a massive upgrade in Crysis Remastered and that is awesome. The rest of the game is the same, nothing new (as far as I can tell) has been added here. To be fair, Crysis was already a great first-person shooter so I am not sure what they could have done. I think this is worth checking out for both fans of the series and those who missed out on the original.
- The new graphics are fantastic
- The Nanosuit is as much fun to use as it was before
- I liked the story and think the new visuals make it more epic
- This is not just trying to get by on looks, it is a fantastic first-person shooter
- There may be the odd framerate issue here and there
- Apart from the visuals, this is the same game you played all those years ago
