Don't Open Your Eyes is a fully voiced horror-themed visual novel that may very well give you nightmares, so proceed at your own risk. If you like atmospheric horror games and don't mind getting scared, then be sure to download Don't Open Your Eyes and try it because it's one heck of an experience. If you’re not yet convinced, let me go over a few of the game’s features.

A chilling tale of a mysterious being

You start out the game in your bed on a silent night when a shadowy creature approaches you and begins to mutter words as it gets closer and closer. You can't make out what it looks like initially, but you can hear what it's saying – it's asking you to open your eyes, and to tell it how it looks. Is the creature real, and is it even there? It's your choice whether to ignore the voices or comply with what's being asked of you…

A fully-voiced adventure with plenty of dialogue

As mentioned earlier, the game is fully voiced, so be prepared to feel fully immersed and have chills run down your spine as you listen to the mysterious creature talk to you. Lots of dialogue options are available for you to explore when you interact with the creature too, so be sure to try them all out.

Don’t Open Your Eyes isn’t particularly replayable, so be sure to explore as many dialogue options as you can in your first playthrough to properly experience the game. Playing through it a second time won’t be nearly as thrilling as the first time.

Creepy artwork

No horror game is complete without its fair share of creepiness, and Don't Open Your Eyes is no different. When you first lay eyes on the creature's face in this game it'll make your skin crawl, and the dark and gloomy room just adds to the creepiness. If this sounds like your kind of thing, then be sure to give this game a shot.

Additionally, the creature's appearance changes throughout the game depending on the particular options you choose, so be prepared to see up to 27 different variations of it. That's a whole lot of creepiness!

Though short, Don’t Open Your Eyes has a lot going for it and is definitely worth playing through at least once if you’re into indie horror games, especially ones like Five Nights at Freddy’s. The unique interactions with the game's creature are what make this game so great, however, if dark atmospheres and creepy vibes aren't your things, you may be better off playing something else.

Cons:

The game is quite short, lasting only about half an hour or an hour at most
This game is not for the faint of heart, so if you get scared easily, you’re probably better off not playing it
