Hindsight

As soon as I found out that Hindsight was being put out by Annapurna Interactive, I knew I was a player on it. They make some of the best story-based games around and when I first saw this trailer (I think it was at a PlayStation event if I recall correctly, I was so intrigued by what this was I knew I had to find out more about it. We do not know the release date of this yet, but it is listed as coming at some point in 2022. Anyway, today we are going to put our smarty pants on and try and make sense of what this fascinating game is about.

Memories Trapped In Objects

The story of Hindsight is what I am most excited about. It is brought to us by the brains behind the excellent Prune, which gets me even more excited. The story of the game is about the life of a woman from birth to being all grown up.

Through everyday objects, we get to look through her memories and try and shape them and move them until things fit which can then lead to more memories! It is the kind of thing that is very hard to describe, but when you watch the trailer, it does make sense.

It Is All In The Details

One of the things that I think sounds very interesting about Hindsight is that the game wants you to take it slow. This is not a game you are going to be blasting through as quickly as you can. You have to look at the little details, move around very so slightly until things start to make sense. The impression that I am getting from this game is that it is going to be one that is where you are all like “what the hell am I supposed to do?” only for something to all of a sudden click and you get that eureka moment and it all works. I love that kind of thing, but at the same time, I know that there are some that do not.

Dreams Can Come True

Visually, Hindsight is a very striking and eye-catching game. I love the way that this thing looks and it is very dreamlike. I think it is quite clever and what they are going for (in my opinion of course) is kind of like how when a memory comes to mind it can sometimes not have all the details and be all colorful, or dark or not quite as it really was. I think that is something that they have captured very well here.

I love this kind of storytelling in a game and I cannot wait to fully jump in and see exactly what Hindsight is offering.

Pros:

• I love the idea of the way this game is telling it story
• It has a very interesting and unique kind of style to the visuals
• The puzzles look like they are going to be very challenging
• I am sure this is the kind of game that will be great and fun to talk about with others

Cons:

• I am not sure when in 2022 they plan to have this released
• While I am into all what this game is offering, I do feel that it is a bit of an acquired taste
