In order to survive, you’ll need to build a city and manage your resources. Unlike so many city-builders where you need villagers to come to you, this is one game where you will be turning them away. Resources are always tight, and that means growth isn’t necessarily a good thing. Players will have to fight fiercely to hold onto what they have.

Homeseek has strong Fallout vibes. If you loved the brutal backdrop and intense gameplay of Fallout, you’ll likely also enjoy the challenge of Homeseek. It’s as if the developers took everything games like Fallout, The Last of Us and The Road were trying to do, and rolled them all together into a novel new game.

Gameplay is intense and brutal. The moment you start playing you are running against a clock and must figure the game out quick or die. Although gameplay is unforgiving, anything less would make the game lackluster.

Extreme Replay Value

The concept of Homeseek is very simple. Players are given just a few hours to create a survivable city before resources runout. These important resources are things like small pools of water, scrap to make buildings out of, and food.

You’ll also need to unlock lifesaving technology that expands your potential for survival, and you’ll need to do so quickly.

Players are likely to find themselves failing quite frequently. A failure means starting the game over and trying again. There’s no recovering from these mistakes, just as there likely wouldn’t be a chance at recovering in real life.

Despite failing many times and being forced to start again though, it doesn’t feel like a drag. Players come away from each failure with new knowledge that gives them an edge for the next time they play.

Story Adds Value

This game would be entertaining all by itself, but the developers added an extra layer of value to it with the storyline. The game has a well developed storyline which is revealed to you as the story continuers. As the story continues we learn that it is 2100, and the world was destroyed through a mixture of climate related issues and nuclear war.

It’s evident that the storyline may change depending on what the players do early in the game, among other things.

Multiplayer

One final aspect to the game worthy of note is that upon its release, the game will have a multiplayer option. Multiplayer kicks the tension into high gear, with every player in charge of their own mini-town, competing for resources.

The result is a no-holds-barred free for all, where everyone is stopping at nothing to promote their own survival.
