Infernax

Infernax is an awesome retro inspired 2D action and adventure game that just oozes personality. As I write this, we are just a couple of weeks away from the release and I really could not be any more excited. I have been checking this game out for a while now and today I am here to tell you guys why this is something that you need to check out and be very excited about!

A Returning Hero

I am quite surprised at how story drive Infernax is for a game of this style. The main character is a brave and strong knight who after some time away has returned to his homeland. He is shocked to discover that things are quite different from the last time he was here!

The land is taken over by these evil creatures that are there as a result of this dark magic that has swept the land! He needs to find out what caused this corruption of his home and put a stop to it!

Pixel Perfection

Before we get to the gameplay of Infernax, we have to talk about the visuals. I know at this point we have all seen a million games that use pixel art, but this one still manages to stand out from the crowd. The actual pixel art in this game is amazing and it looks like a cross between Castlevania and that 8-bit style Blood Stained game that came out a couple of years back. It is dark, moody and it is awesome. There are also these fantastic cut scenes that are used to move the plot along and also for when you have to make choices in the game too.

More Than Meets The Eye

At first glance, Infernax may look like your typical 2D retro style action game. It does have a lot of those elements and it does them very well, but there is more here than just that. There are epic bosses that you will need to fight. You have a leveling up and progression system that lets you pick the way you want the knight to play. You can purchase some cool items and also new skills to help you too. In many ways, it actually leans more towards being a 2D RPG!

The Consequences Of Your Actions!

One of the most appealing aspects of Infernax is the choice system. They claim that every choice you make in this game will have some kind of consequence. You can choose if you want to slay or save someone and these types of decisions will lead you to many different endings. This is something that I really do like as it gives the game that extra bit of replay value.

I know that we have all played a million retro pixel art style 2D games at this point. However, I really do think that what they have done where with Infernax is something that is very, very cool.

Pros:

• That 2D artwork is some of the best around
• Fun, but challenging gameplay
• The choices you make will change how the game ends
• There is far more to the gameplay and progression than you would think

Cons:

• Some people might be sick of pixel art in their game by this point
• How many bosses are too many bosses?
