MONSTER HUNTER RISE is a tough action-RPG that pits players against massive monsters as they embark on dangerous hunts for resources. Equipped with any of the dozen-plus weapons, you'll slay fiendish beasts using precise attacks and combos while maintaining your health and safety. While the game requires quite a bit of practice to become skilled, MONSTER HUNTER RISE offers some seriously rewarding gameplay that will keep you playing for hours and hours. If you've ever dreamed of taking down a monster the size of a small house, MONSTER HUNTER RISE is the game for you.

Main Game Features

  • Hunt down giant monsters
  • 14 different weapons to wield
  • Supports solo and cooperative play

In the story of MONSTER HUNTER RISE, you play as a customizable warrior living in Kamura Village after they join the Hunters Guild. Despite the recent promotion, the village is on high alert, as warnings of impending monster attacks cause concern. To prepare for the oncoming assault, you must help the village by collecting resources for the battle and completing dangerous missions. Unfortunately, an event known as “The Rampage” begins shortly thereafter, sending the village into a state of panic. As the deadly monsters bear down on Kamura Village, it's up to you to repel the beasts and save your town. Ultimately, the storytelling is overshadowed by the action-packed gameplay, with the focus being on monster-slaying over narrative. With that said, the story in MONSTER HUNTER RISE provides enough motivation to keep you going throughout the entire adventure.

In comparison to other games in the long-running Monster Hunter franchise, MONSTER HUNTER RISE is most similar to Monster Hunter World, offering straightforward objectives in small but detailed open-world areas. You start each mission by preparing at Kamura Village, equipping your armor and choosing your weapon. There are fourteen weapons to choose from, including long swords, axes, ranged weapons, and more. Each weapon offers a completely different play style, encouraging players to try new weapons as they see fit. After outfitting your hunter an ideal loadout, you're set loose in one of the many regions of the game to hunt down your target. There are a wide variety of monster bosses to fight, including dragons and other fantastical beasts.

While it shares many similarities to the previous game, MONSTER HUNTER RISE offers a few new additions as well. One of the best new items is the Wirebug, which acts like a grappling hook, letting you swing around the map with freedom. There is also a new type of companion called a Palamute, that players can freely ride around the map without expending stamina. The game can be played solo or cooperatively, with support for online and local multiplayer. Extra modes have also been added, including the Rampage tower-defense mode, which tasks players with defending Kamura Village from waves of monsters.

Like the other games in the franchise, MONSTER HUNTER RISE is a challenging action-RPG that will test your skills and push your fighting talents to the limit. With a rich arsenal of weapons and a wide variety of monsters, the gameplay stays fresh for dozens of hours. It's tons of fun to hunt down resources and craft new pieces of armor, constantly upgrading your character and taking on bigger monsters.

If you love boss fights and games that reward precise strikes over button-mashing, MONSTER HUNTER RISE will make you feel like a godly warrior.
