With a dedicated fanbase who love the weird, chaotic energy that No More Heroes game series bring, No More Heroes 3, has many on the edge of their seat. Announced at the 2019 E3 convention, the game has now been delayed to be released at some point in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic putting Nintendo behind schedule. The pushed back release date is tied to making the game better quality, as Nintendo has stated that is their focus at this point in the development.
While we are not sure exactly what kind of graphics we will be looking at for No More Heroes 3, the fans do have considerable expectations after being told the release had to be delayed in order the make the game a better quality. It is imagined that the same simple but somewhat realistic image of individuals and the world around them will be kept the same as the other two installments in the series, but with 11 years from the last part to this one, there should be a very noticeable change in what players see and how it affects their immersion.
Following the same storyline and play style as its two predecessors, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, No More Heroes 3 allows players to become Travis Touchdown, an aspiring assassin who uses what is basically an off-brand lightsaber, calling it his beam katana. Travis is picked up right wear No More Heroes 2 left him, jumping onto an upside-down pyramid, fighting robotic mannequins.
With new graphics, however, typically come a difference in play style, as many new mechanics are unlocked when resolution and visibility increase. While these are not certain and no information has been leaked specifically on new mechanics, at least a couple are to be expected after 11 years.
No More Heroes is one of those middle ground games. Players either love it or they hate it, pushing it to an either or area where players just decide for themselves and there is no universal gaming rule that declares it good or bad. I would like to give it the benefit of the doubt since it has had two successful installments already, but it does not offer anything special. For these reasons, I rate No More Heroes 3 as a 6/10.
