Poker Quest: Swords and Spades is a detailed card strategy game developed for personal computers. The game was created by the home studio Thomas Wolfley. The project became available to download in November 2022. In spite of its relatively short time since its release, the game has already managed to gain a wide audience and fans.

About gameplay

The game is based on the usual concept and rules of poker. However, the author's approach to the implementation of such a trivial theme was not avoided. In the course of a card tournament the gamer has not only to win at the card table, but also to destroy his opponents with his decisions. You can choose from 20 heroes to play as. They all differ not only in appearance, but also in their particular style of poker.

The developers didn't limit themselves to an ordinary deck. They have added cards with special abilities: freeze, fire salvo. There are also more conventional weapons, also implemented in the cards. An additional deck can be used to defeat monsters. The latter in the project is more than enough. To defeat the enemies the gamer will have to master poker techniques flawlessly and figure out the other options. Activation of attacking cards comes at the expense of poker combinations. The concept is remotely similar to Slay The Spire.

Poker Quest: Swords and Spades is set in the Medieval Age atmosphere. This gives the playthrough a special charm. The graphics themselves are bright, colorful and detailed. It is obvious that a lot of work was done on each image. The differences also include:

• 2-D graphics. This is a classic solution for card games on the PC. The special effects are also created in two planes
• Game Mode. At this point, you can not play with other real people. Implemented mode for a single user. The opponent is artificial intelligence
• An elaborate world. Along with spades and hearts, there are fantasy creatures in the game. Sorcerers and dragons can be found here, as well as castles and knights
• Mini-games. If you're in need of a distraction after a challenging game, the in-game mini-games are worth a look
• Pump up mode. As you progress through the game the player gains artifacts that can help you in a difficult situation at the poker table
• Regular updates. The developers do not intend to finish the project. Soon they plan to add new characters
