PROJECT D : Human Risen

PROJECT D: Human Risen is a PC game developed by Catgames. It is currently in development and has a set release date for 2022. There's not much information based on what they've shown of the game but there's a lot of expectations about the whole game. But eleven though they haven't shown all that much, there's enough info already for us to have a good idea about the plot and gameplay, and we're here to talk about that.

About the game

A new virus called D-VIRUS has propagated so fast that it caused the extinction of most of humanity by the year 2022. That’s why researchers from all over the world got together to try and find a solution, this was the birth of Project Doomsday.

This project consists of teaching the remaining humanity all the basics of survival through specially trained individuals with all the survival potential and skills. But they also created a time capsule for all the chosen survivors to remain there until the curve of the virus is flattened.

But by the year 2023, the project leaked to the public, and fear grew in the population, and they demanded the massive production of this capsule as everyone wanted the chance of survival. But the resources for building this solution are scarce. The scientist in charge decided to move out of his lab to a remote island far from civilization.

The game will have you play this experience and up to the very last minute to understand more about the virus and where it came from. Hoping to get to a solution and finding the roots of it all, that is, of course, if there's any way to save humanity from very possible extinction.

The Setting

The game has a lot of islands to explore, full of different natural ecosystems. There are tropical forests, desert islands, volcanic ones, and much more. But one of the most interesting things you'll find in all of them is the mutated creatures that have been affected by the virus.

There's the night and day cycle and the weather mechanics that you'll have to consider as you explore. There can be extreme sun, harsh storms, thunder, even snow, and more. Every kind of weather presents different challenges for you, but even though it may seem a bit intimidating at first, you know what they say, life finds a way.

Find recipes, build stuff, get food and resources, survive. You'll also have a variety of vehicles to use while exploring. Many of them can also be a refuge for your character in some weather conditions. You can build cars, bikes, buggies, bicycles, and more. And you can tame some horses too. Using vehicles is key for transporting resources to safe locations and working with them later on.

Preview

Even though the setting of the game promises to be very interesting, it is all but original. The post-apocalyptic setting caused by a virus is a very cliché story that’s been well explored in the gaming world. Incredible games such as the Resident Evil series and The Last of Us already are masterpieces and have the same theme and setting.
