Project Gunship

At the end of summer the army of military flight simulators was enlarged by an unusual project. On August 31, 2022, a game called Project Gunship became available. This independent action game offers the opportunity to sit at the controls of an American Lockheed AC-130 aircraft, which is used as a flying artillery battery, bomber, and combat support vehicle.

What is it?

Project Gunship can safely be called a tribute to one aircraft. We are talking about Lockheed AC-130, which started to be used by the American military in 1968, took part in many conflicts and is still in service. The game was created by a group of enthusiasts who formed their own indie team, Sklorite Studios LLC. This is their first commercial project. And the guys are distributing their product on their own.

Project Gunship game, which can be compared to AirFighters Combat and Apache 3D Sim, is in development. So far, the project has several modes and locations available, as well as a limited number of aircraft modifications. Over time, the developers plan to add to the game all variations of the Lockheed AC-130, starting with the basic Hercules model and ending with the Spectre and Spooky still in service.

In addition to technology, creators want to fill the project and other content. In particular, they want to make a large number of maps based on the real battles, which took place in the legendary aircraft.

Again in the battle!

Gameplay in Project Gunship is built around a briefing and further combat flights on variations of the iconic fire support vehicle Lockheed AC-130. The aircraft has been in active use by the U.S. armed forces since the Vietnam War. Two of its $132 million and $190 million modifications are still in service.

After getting acquainted with the next task the user will have to get behind the steering wheel of the plane and deliver it to a combat zone. Then it will be necessary to complete the task. It consists of suppressing enemy fire in a given square, destroying enemy equipment, landing and other components.

After completing the combat mission, some missions are completed. Some require returning to the base for successful completion. Upon completion of the mission, the player receives rewards, achievements and access to the next missions. Along with them, new locations and equipment are unlocked.

Advantages and disadvantages

The game is bribed by several things at once. These are:

Some users are confused by the large number of tasks at night, so they have to use the night vision devices. This way the developers decided to simplify the task of working out the graphics. They promise that in the future there will be more quality and detailed visuals.
