Run Pizza Run

Based on the title alone, Run Pizza Run is a game that appealed to me. You see, I consider myself something of a pizza connoisseur, granted, I only ever have pepperoni pizza, but it is easily my favorite junk food to chow down on during the weekend! I feel like I have played a ton of food making games over the last few years and the weird thing is, I never seem to get tired of them. However, the twist here is that while this has pizza in the title, we are not making the pizza, we are delivering it!

I Thought It Seemed Familiar!

As I was doing a deep dive on Run Pizza Run, I found out that the game started life out as a mod for Grand Theft Auto IV. The funny thing is, when I was watching the trailer and checking out footage of the game, I was getting a real sense of familiarity in terms of the way that the game looked, but I could not put my finger on it. However, a friend, who is far smarter and far geekier than I am said “You know this is based on a GTA IV mod right?” and it was like as soon as he said that, it all made sense.

Buy Your Mom The House She Dreams Of

I got a real chuckle when I read the Steam page for Run Pizza Run as it says that you are trying to make money so that you can buy your mom the house of her dreams. I came into this thinking it was going to have some kind of cheesy and silly story that we were playing through, but that is not actually the case. What we have here is a basic premise and it never really goes beyond that. To be honest, I do feel that this is one part of the game that they could have expanded upon a bit in order to give what you are doing a wee bit more meaning if you get what I am saying.

A Little Old Lady On A Motorized Cart!

Hey, if you get that Dumb and Dumber reference, you are welcome to come hang out in my game room any time! Run Pizza Run is freaking hilarious! This is a game where we have a simple task, we need to deliver 20 pizzas and these are the best damn pizzas in the city. The problem is, that people in this city are nuts and actively try to hit us in their vehicles. They zoom right after you and crossing the street here is way more dangerous than in Frogger. It is so over the top when you get hit, even when you get hit right on your last delivery, it is still going to make you laugh. I was impressed with how tight and good the controls were too so there is no jankiness that you have to overcome here to ensure the people of this city get their pies nice and hot and without tire marks and blood on them!

No Hitting The Brakes Here

Once you know that Run Pizza Run started its life out as a mod for Grand Theft Auto IV, the visuals are pretty much instantly recognizable. The game has a wacky look to it and the way that the cars blow up and cause all kinds of mayhem around is very well done. I was expecting the game to run kind of poorly, but even when there was chaos going on, I never encountered any kind of slowdown. I get that it may not be the best looking game you have ever played, but there is no denying that the style they have here has a lot of charm, especially if you are someone who has spent a lot of time with and has enjoyed GTA IV.

Pros:

• Being a pizza delivery guy has never been more dangerous
• The game is hilarious, even when you get hit for the 100th time
• I was very impressed with how smoothly the game played and run
• This is a great game if you need cheering up and want to have fun

Cons:

• The game is not very deep
• It feels like it needs more content to take it to the next level!

Run Pizza Run is a simulation of the most dangerous delivery job you could ever imagine. Go to a crazy city to fulfill the dream of one ordinary delivery man and save up for your mother's house by risking your life. Deliver pizzas in a crazy city where every car moves at unimaginable speeds. Chaotic movement can instantly take your life and leave customers hungry. Such an unforgivable mistake an experienced delivery man can not forgive himself.
