SEASON: A letter to the future is the latest in a long run of amazing narrative driven video games. I swear, we live in an absolute golden age of storytelling in video games with games almost having the same kind of charm, wit, and character development as you would expect in an indie movie. With this one here, I am going to do my best to keep things as spoiler free as I can as this is one game that you have to experience for yourself to truly appreciate.

Dust In The Wind!

The story of SEASON: A letter to the future is about a young woman called Estelle who lives in a very strange and unusual place where no one ever leaves. In this world, there are “seasons” but these are not seasons as we know them a season is when a major change is about to happen and one is due real soon. Estelle is going to be brave and leave what she has always known in order to set out and find out as much as she can about this upcoming season and the people it is going to affect.

People With Stories

You will get to interact with many interesting people in SEASON: A letter to the future and each one has their own story to tell you. Their own problems, dreams, desires, and fears and you will get to experience it all through different ways such as sound, video, and art. It is truly a remarkable thing and getting bits of information here and there will ultimately give you a much better idea of what this changing season is all about. If you love games like Life is Strange, Road 96, As Dusk Falls, and Beacon Pines, this game is going to be right up your alley.

Biking To The Future

One thing that I am really liking about SEASON: A letter to the future is that it gives the player much more freedom to explore and move around than you get in a game like Road 96 or As Dusk Falls for example. One thing that sets this apart from all the rest is that a huge part of the exploration that you will be doing in this game is on your bike. They describe this game as “a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game” and that was what initially drew me to the game if I am being honest with you.

The Video Games Are Art Debate

To be real, I do not think that this is a debate anymore, if movies are art, video games are art! However, I would use SEASON: A letter to the future here as a prime example of a game that is also a work of art. Not just because of the amazing narrative that it has, but the way it looks and sounds as well. This game is just pure eye candy, it has a very artistic kind of vibe about it, almost like a painting that is in motion. The use of colors, lighting, and shadows brings this whole game to life in a truly spectacular way. I am sure this is the kind of game that people will enjoy watching others play just as much as playing it themselves.

• You get to meet many different and interesting characters
• The art style makes this one of the most unique looking games of the year
• I love the whole biking to your next adventure thing that is going on here

• Will there be much in the way of replay value here
• You have to be into games with complex narratives to appreciate this
