Small console but still Tekken!
Tekken Advance is the first Tekken game from the series to be on a handheld console. It’s also the first Tekken to be on a Nintendo console. Even though the game isn’t a part of the core story, the story behind the game is still good.
Peace in a fighter world
Tekken Advance is set 15 years after Tekken 2 ending. The story of Tekken is very complex, so for them too put so much detail into the story of a small spin-off for the GBA is amazing. The game starts with Heichachi creating an organization called the Tekken Force. After a while, Heichachi finds a tomb that he believes, holds a weapon of incredible power that can be used for peace. After digging up this so-called weapon. It is soon realised by Heichachi that it's not a weapon, it’s a monster that feeds on the strongest fighter to enhance its powers. After this, even the King of the Iron Fist 3rd is made as a trap to get the monster Orchi to appear and fight the strongest fighter. Through Tekken Advance, you play as Jin, the grandson of Heichachi, who trains you to defeat Orchi after winning the tournament and becoming the strongest fighter.
Tekken it easy
The graphics of Tekken Advance is old school Pixel art for a small screen like the Game boy Advance. It has some amazing depth and style to the graphics as it looks real as well as keeping the cartoon style, giving you a unique experience. The side by side style of the background, the characters as they fight, makes you feel like you’re fighting in a 3D arena making it feel even more action-packed.
Round 1. Fight!
The game is a side to side fighting game where your opponent is one side and you’re on the other. It’s pretty simple gameplay but still, action-packed, you are going to have to learn some combos of the buttons to become a master at the game. It’s definitely a game that’s easy to learn but hard to master giving you hundreds of hours of gameplay perfecting your skills. If you are into your side-scrolling fighting games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, you’ll fall deeply in love with Tekken Advance.
Set back on the handheld but still a gem
The game has a slight setback graphically due to it being on a handheld, but it doesn’t take much from the gameplay. The story is a spin-off and, in most spin-offs,, you don’t see much detail put into the story, but this spin-off really puts the effort into the story to give you one great experience. The 3D style of the game gets you highly motivated to come back to the game again and again as it does feel classic. Every fight feels very epic and enjoyable also making you want to learn more and play more of the series.
