Titanfall 3

The prospect of Titanfall 3 will excite a lot of first-person shooter players. Since the original release, the game has been highly acclaimed despite not doing incredibly well in sales. The speculation of the third entry aims to change all that - giving us a glimpse into a refreshed and rejuvenated offering. Will Titanfall 3 be the game to break the boundaries of the franchise?

Titanfall 3 has yet to be officially announced - but publishers EA have given the game developers the green light to start production. The success of its multiplayer spin-off has reinvigorated interest. So, there is sure to be a lot of focus on delivering a refined single-player and multiplayer experience. We don't have much media to go on, but we can guess what Titanfall 3 will offer.

Going Off That Cliffhanger

Anybody that's finished the single-player campaign of Titanfall 2 will know there's a cliffhanger at the end. We won't go ahead and get into the story - players should immerse themselves in this alone. What we can say, though, there's certainly enough to go on to generate a third entry to the game. For the sake of completionism, there might as well be a Titanfall 3!

Neither the developers nor publishers have commented on the existence of Titanfall 3, except the public indication that it will probably happen. There's plenty on Respawn's plate at the moment with the success of Apex Legends and also other games rumored to be in heavy development. So with literally nothing to go on - what can we expect from Titanfall 3?

Well, mechanically, we expect everything will be the same with a few enhancements. First-person shooters like these always stick with the run and gun combat. What we do expect is that developers will take advantage of newfound hardware capabilities. Both the original and sequel were heavy on detail for their models - the third will probably take its photorealism to a new level.

Of course, a story will be in place for the single-player campaign. We can also expect a multiplayer. But with Apex Legends in focus, it may not be as big a part as the other 2 games. Regarding mechanics, something that exploits the ray tracing abilities of newer consoles may come into play. Other than that, we really can't tell how Titanfall 3 will shape up.

The Next Big FPS

What's certain is that there is an enthusiasm for Titanfall 3's release. As soon as some space on the calendar clears up for Respawn Entertainment - we'll probably get a confirmation that it's being worked on. The only time I remember people being this amped up for a new sci-fi shooter is the build-up to Halo 3. And boy, did that deliver!

• Enough demand to create the third game
• It will probably leverage all the hardware capabilities of next-gen consoles to refine the player experience
