When it comes to indie games two, platforms stand out the most right now, and those are the Nintendo Switch and PC. This is especially important, as indie developers have been creating some masterpieces in recent years. Here we'll talk about Transisbury, published by Flyhigh Works and developed by Skipmore studio, this game is available at the Nintendo eShop from 2019. But it's soon to be released for PC on Steam. We know past games from developer Skipmore, so it was a promising title from the get-go. But does Transiruby deliver? Well, let's talk about it and see what it's all about!
About the game
In Lansbury, the player gets in the role of Sirubi, a cyborg girl tasked with retrieving the DNA of the creatures that inhabit the ruined planet Noah. As far as the gameplay goes, this is a Metroidvania / Platformer game experience, in which you'll sash and shoot through the enemies to get to your objectives.
This planet appeared through a portal opened from a different dimension, and Siruby, who is a space-traveling cyborg, takes her AI partner "Ne-com" to this adventure. Once there you'll meet new characters and allies that will be of incredible help in your journey. But beware, this is far from a peaceful experience, monsters and mutants will be constantly trying to hunt you down. So get ready for some action.
Mixing past titles
Skipmore already has other two great names to be proud of, Kamiko and Fairune, and they mixed some elements of both of those games in this third one. The same high-quality action from one, with the adventure and puzzle-solving elements of the other. The fight mechanics are new and original, with incredible pixel art to go along with it.
Whereas the other games are more active or based on puzzles, Transirubyh is the perfect balance between those two, and there are different gimmicks and special abilities you'll need to master to overcome the many obstacles in the game.
This Metroidvania game has some excellent ideas, however many of them fall short because of the limited visuals this game has. The pixel art is beautiful, sure, but it can be a bit too basic and limited to simpler moves. However, exploration is a great part of the game, and that's not limited at all.
Using your special abilities and mastering them will take you straight through the puzzles and the incredible fights against some of the craziest monsters out there. Dodge lasers, fight robots and mutants, escape traps, and gather the DNA you're there to collect. Oh, and we haven't even mentioned that you can actually transform into a motorcycle and a plane to go through some high-speed action and exploration.
Overall the main issue with this game is that, while it’s really beautiful, it’s not compelling enough to attract too many players. Still, it’s a solid piece you should play if you’re in for a 2D adventure.
