Have you ever dreamed of setting aside your day job and racking up millions of dollars through social media? Tube Tycoon is the opportunity to live out your dreams through making it big on “Tube,” a video sharing website that looks exactly like YouTube.

If your looking for a casual game that will still keep you entertained on your own schedule, Tube tycoon is a good choice. The game is as easy and relaxed as the The Sims 3, but is point and click rather than a 3D simulation. Tube Tycoon puts a YouTube channel in your very own hands, and lets you give becoming a star a chance—without having to actually go out and buy all that expensive equipment to get one started.

The game features simple point and click options to help you build your platform. They give you options such as upgrading your editing software, what sort of videos to film, and information on what your viewers find interesting.

The goal is to film videos your followers find interesting, so they’ll come back for more. You can also gauge interest through comments from your viewers. These can be both positive comments and haters there to bring you down. The flow of comments can feel very life like, and go a long way to actually making it feel like a real YouTube channel. The analytics offered also help make the game feel more like a real YouTube channel

Can be repetitive

Just like in real life, there’s a lot of repetition in making it big on Youtube. Once the novelty of creating your own films and purchasing new equipment fades, repeating the same tasks over and over again can be a bit of a grind. Although the game does have a great deal of grinding to it, there’s a little bit more to it than simply point and click. You’ll need strategy to grow your channel from an underwhelming and easily forgotten channel to a name everyone has heard about.

If too much time is spent on video topics that don’t interest viewers, your numbers will go down or stagnate rather than go up. It’s important to choose videos that are interesting to at least 10% of viewers, and then let the topic rest until interest in the topic increases again.

This is a casual game meant to help stave away boredom. While it’s not particularly deep, it doesn’t need to be for its purpose. This game is great for a few hours of light entertainment between more serious games, or if you don’t have much time to play. Long term, this game can be a bit of a grind and that does take away some of the fun out of it. It could also be improved with more features, such as animations of you “recording” your videos, or adding options besides simple button clicking.
