Uncharted 5

Being one of the biggest names in the gaming industry, every new rumor is important, and that's why the rumors of Uncharted 5 happening, while scarce, are very relevant. Starting in the PS3 era, the series is partly responsible for the success of the console, and this helped in positioning the developers Naughty Dog back on the top for the PlayStation games developers.

Nathan Drake even became pretty much the mascot of the PlayStation and even a new icon of gaming. It's like the Indiana Jones of gaming, and becoming an instant classic like few others have ever been able to. So, what are these rumors about a new release being in the works? Well, let's talk about it.

Uncharted 5, less naughty

Naughty Dog, Uncharted developer studio, finished off the series and the story back when they released Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. An epic conclusion to the series, and the story of Nathan Drake. However they did release a ladder game in the Uncharted universe, a spin-off called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

The spin-off received great reviews and had critical acclaim, but that’s not the only important thing about that game. It actually opened up the possible ties to keep exploring the Uncharted universe, by expanding it beyond Nathan Drake’s story. But since it was all going so well, and with an excellent franchise at hands, and having endless expansion possibilities it would be strange to just cut it off now when they need it the most.

However, some of the rumors imply that the game would not be developed by Naughty Dog, but by a new team at Sony San Diego. This can be some bad news for the fans, but wait there's more.

Should it exist?

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was an already excellent conclusion to an incredible saga, It tied every loose thing together in the end. Nathan Drake’s story already had its grand finale, so, should it continue from there? Should they give up an incredible ending for the sake of keeping the series alive? What about Nathan Drake’s legacy?

Well, Nolan North, Nathan Drake’s voice actor, says that if there’s an Uncharted 5 in the works, he is yet to be contacted to play his classic role again. But that brings up a different question, would the Uncharted Saga really survive without the main character that brought it to life?

Uncharted 5 is everything but confirmed, and there are just scarce rumors about it, not enough to really bring any real hope for the fans. And that gives us enough time to think about it and see if we'd actually want a new Uncharted game.
