Where Cards Fall is a fantastic spatial puzzle solving game brough to you by The Game Band. Excellent rendered in gorgeous its own unique gorgeous style. This is a deceptively challenging game provides a unique gameplay style that few others could pull off as well as they have. Its up to you to take control of the protagonist and explore this colorful and emotional world using a set of magic cards. This coming-of-age story is a stunning one that will hook you from start to finish and leave you pondering your own life in a way that few games can. Let’s get into it.

Gameplay

The gameplay to this game is remarkably simple to get into but quite hard to master. You, as the protagonist, take control of a deck of cards. Not small playing cards, but large 10-foot-tall cards that you can construct buildings, walkways, and stairs with. These cards allow you to traverse the world and get from a to b so you can discover what this story holds.

As I stated earlier, this game is deceptively challenging. You may think its easy at a glance, but once you get into it and realize that the functions of some constructs change depending on how tall they are, or how they’re constructed, and you will come to understand that this title takes a little more creativity and problem solving than you first thought.

A strong grasp on your own imagination and strategic thinking skills are required for you to beat this game. There are over fifty puzzles so it’s not something that you are going to get through quickly if you just guess everything. It captures you and asks you to pay attention, to think, and you would be surprised at how obliged you are to do so.

Visuals

So, while playing this I was somewhat reminded of The Gardens Between or Gris. These games have their style, their theme and they stick to it all throughout, and its not something you’d ever want to complain about as its absolutely brilliant. The visuals are stunning and they leave you with a bizarre wanderlust of dreamlands that you’ve never seen before. Strange for a game to make you all “soul searchey” but this one manages it.

Everything is distinct and stylish, colorful and vibrant but not all the time, sometimes the game can seem dark with a few specs of light pushing through the grim visage before you. If the words spooky, fun and creative got their own game, this would be it.

Audio

The audio to this game is absolutely mesmerizing. Everything from the sound design, with its fresh and crisp recordings to the music itself, all lends credence to the idea that this is a masterpiece that engages as many of your senses as it can. Just the music alone is enough to get you in the right mood. I love just listening to the soundtrack while doing other things, it’s that good.
