Wild Hearts

Fantasy hunting games are an exciting genre, with many popular games currently available. Wild Hearts is the latest in this genre, but it breaks the mold for this style of game. It strives to be easy to use, accessible to all, and bring more to the table than other similar games. Due out mid-February, the developers are still working hard to finish their game. Sneak previews have revealed that this game is truly innovative however, and worth playing if you’re a fan of this style of game.

A Modern Monster Hunter

When playing this game, it’s impossible not to draw similarities to Monster Hunter, another fantasy hunting game. Monster Hunter is a fun game, but it has long struggled with a difficult to understand interface, and a steep learning curve.

It’s hard to enjoy a game that takes hours to get the hang of. Wild Hearts takes the problems of games like Monster Hunter and made fixing those problems the foundation of their game.

You can get through the tutorial and get hunting in just 30 minutes in Wild Hearts. On top of this, the game is highly accessible for those who may need text-to-audio, audio-to-text for things like voice chat, menu size changes, and many other changes. The goal is to make it so that anyone can play.

Finally, the interface of the game is much easier to interact with. These menus are still being optimized, but even in test runs are much smoother to use compared to other monster hunters.

Strong Crafting Aspect

Like most monster hunting games, there’s a crafting aspect to the game. You hunt the monsters in order to farm parts, the parts can then be used to upgrade weapons and materials. Wild Hearts takes it a step farther though, and also allows you to craft in battle.

An example of this is building a scaffolding of sorts. By quickly building these during combat, you can jump onto the back of a large monster, helping give you an angle to take them down.

Unique Weapons

Another notable part of the game is the unique weapons in it. While there are ordinary weapons like katanas and bows, you can also fight with an umbrella. The umbrella allows you to do arial combat, as well as deflect blows very efficiently. There are a few weapons shown in the trailer as well that look unique and interesting, but have not been playable in pre-release tests yet.

If you don’t mind the so-so graphics, Wild Hearts appears to be an entertaining monster hunting game. It seeks to set itself apart from the most popular monster hunting games by fixing the issues most gamers struggle with.
